Not sure how accurate it would be, but you could simply bolt a thinner rubber strip, maybe two, to the back of the 'rang, and when you fold it up, it'll cause the rubber to stretch, and when you let it go, the rubber will snap back to shape, just a thought.

Thats the way I was thinking of doing mine.

Good job John.
You guys are on the right track.
From what I remember reading, the rang had a rubber backing that could be folded, then when released, it popped back to it's original position. I believe the rubber piece covered the entire back of the "stunt" rang.

Thanks Brin.

Here's the final sculpt. Just waiting for the primer to cure and I'll mold it. Probably tonight and cast it tomorrow.
It was pretty easy. The whole thing took less than 2 days to get it this far. started at 11:00pm Mon. and finished a few hours ago. Now I just play the waiting game.

Tell me how you got the lines so mechanically straight. Did you cut pieces of styrene, then imbed them into the clay?

Very small balsa wood, but the same idea as styrene. 1/16" strip cut up. I had balse,so I used that. :wink
I did them after the rang was baked and sanded smooth. Each one is glued into place.
The horizontal line is higher than the vertical lines.
Sice I used the same piece of wood,I did the vertical ones first, then sanded them so they weren't as high. Then I cut the horizontal and contoured the bottom curve to fit and that was just high enough as it was.
Probably exactally what you were thinking with the styrene.
