Two Painted Canvas Belts - Pics

Simple Walmart 99 cent paint on the sportsmansguide belts after a nice bleach soak. The brown one was ran through the washer again after for the weathered look.

I like how the brown turned out. I have a black one I'm thinking about painting it to a brown or tan colour.

Do you just simply soak the belt in some bleach until all the black fades then paint it?

A cup of bleach per gallon of water. I let it sit for 20 minutes then rinsed. The color of the canvas doesn't fade as much as you would think and the black comes out almost drab olive. Repeat it as often as you like. The canvas absorbs paint so they take around five or so coats. The belts are viitually indestructible so it is hard to go wrong.

I agree, they look great. Two questions. They make an olive drab belt as well as the black one. Do you think it would be easier to start with the OD belt? Two, what's the specific yellow paint you used?

I like it, that yellow belt would be great with a comic style suit I'm thinking about putting together. Is it an american ex forces cartridge belt?? I will have a look in our local ex army store. At the moment I have a thick cordura/nylon security/police type belt and was going to get pouches for that.

Cheers Colin

From Walmart, Colorplace "Sun Yellow". I did start with the drab olive for one of the belts ad the end bleach result was better (barely) with the black.

Colin,
this belt is online for 12-15 dollars and is pretty easy to find. There is a link to some sites in a couple of older threads.
