Some of this has got to be some of the funniest writing I have read especially this about the 89' movie.

Quote:

romances them with candle-lit meals at Wayne Manor, and then makes them watch him sleep upside-down after he's bedded them. That's a little creepy, admittedly, but one could argue that after you've managed to bed '80s-era Kim Basinger, you can pretty much go ahead and do any !@#$ thing you'd like.

Re: The Batmen Rankings

Dave Batman: You're welcome. :up

I made the mistake of buying the movie having never watched it. :doh

I had received 89 Batman, Begins, and Forever for Christmas last year- so I went and bought Returns and B&R to round out the collection.

The film is utterly horrible on so many levels. Clooney is nothing more than a cardboard cutout. What the hell is he doing in a Batman film anyway? And the feuding between Batman and Robin wore thin fast- why did they feel the need to drag it throughout the entire film?

I think it lost me during the opening fight sequence when Clooney says "Hi Freeze! I'm Batman!" like he's introducing himself at an office party. :eyes

Not to mention that ridiculous nod to Shcumacher’s Batman Forever with Batman’s credit card-
Name: Batman Good thru: Forever. Batman and Robin trying to outbid each other? Something like this wouldn’t even have happened in the ‘66 tv series.

Oh I guess you didn't know Dave- there is a scene in the film of a charity auction in which Poison Ivy auctions herself off after having affected all the men in the room, including B&R, with her sex attractant pheromone. B&R go nuts trying outbid each other until Batman pulls out his credit card and says "Never leave the cave without it."

Batgirl? Again another waste. This film has no saving grace whatsoever. It truly stinks.

I didn't even like the batsuits- especially Robin's "Nightwing" hybrid.

But- having been warned, you could watch it just to see how bad, bad can be. :wink

Im with that 100%. Wait no. 95%, i think that Adam West is a better batman than Clooney.

Im sorry, But a dog in a plastic batman mask is better than Clooney at being Batman.

Seriously.

Besides that, i agree with it. Especially everything it says about Keaton being Batman.

And what it says about Bale.

very cool!!!!
I think i'd have to differentiate Wayne/Batman.
to me best wayne = Bale

best Batman = Keaton ( Bale's voice seems too forced)

also the fact that Keaton can't move his neck adds a coolness factor.
i.e. when he's at Axis Chemicals surrounded and he looks left, right, down, up.....it just looks freaking cool.

Re: The Batmen Rankings

i would agree except there's something the keaton-batman says in the first movie. in the bell tower after he punches joker in the face he grabs him by the lapel of his shirt and says "i'm going to kill you"

so i can't say that's the "best" batman because that's something the "real" batman would never do (intentionally).

however i still think keaton's bruce wayne was one of the best. the intensity in his eyes, and the way he struggled with explaining his secret to vicki, and the way he just totally flipped out on the Joker, that's my favorite scene in that whole movie.

but like i said, those were my conclusions before i saw batman begins.

now i honestly believe the bale-batman is the best one done on screen yet. he has the darkness and brooding without looking psychotic;

he pulls off the millionaire playboy bit without looking fruity or silly (*cough* adam west);

and his batman is a very good blend of the "creature of the night" feral monster (see: Flass' interrogation scene with batman),

and also the calculating, intelligent crime fighting Dark Knight Detective (see: scenes with Gordon; scene of Bruce cross legged on the floor of the study reading news clippings of rachel and the Falcone investigation when he finds the bat in the room). Begins takes it a step further by also including the world-traveling to show that Bruce's knowledge of combat and the criminal element come from many different sources, although we only saw two or three in this first movie I expect to see more in the next one.

But he sure as heck might feel like it.

Keaton's eyes are what makes him the top Bat in my book. He can do more with his eyes than some actors do with their whole body. Two scenes in Returns come to mind: 1) where he rescues Selina from the evil circus clown 2) the eye close-ups of him and Devito right before he releases the bats from the Batskiboat. You can just see the wheels turning in his razor-sharp mind. No fear, just getting down to business.

There's something that's always struck me as not right about his Bruce. I just realized what it is--the hair. I think Bruce should have a traditional businessman's haircut. Bale's "do" just doesn't go with the character for me.

Eyes and hair. Now you all know what a shallow, superficial dork I am. emoticon
