Re: 89 Batmobile Voice Remote Prop?

You only get a glimpse in the movie-- I think thatgrab is from a VHS of "behind the scenes" footage.

I have some ultra rare "on-set" photos of the scene where he talks into the mic. They don't show much more than Nick's screen grab, but I'll post them anyway.

Re: 89 Batmobile Voice Remote Prop?

I've been wanting to get into a good 89 prop discussion for a while but never got around to it. Nice to finally start looking into this stuff!

There is only one scene in the film itself where you get a look at the vault's weapon door.

Image

The cap I posted earlier is from the UK "Making of" Documentary. My avatar and sig are from the same doc. Great source of rare footage and images.

As far as the batmobile remote stuff goes, Iin the film Bats uses it four times.

1- "Shields up" running sequence
2- Defeats the sword guy and bob the goon and then "shields down".
3- The batmobile then meets up with Bats and he halts the batmobile with a "Stop".
4- After the batmobile emerges from the destroyed Axis Factory. He is seen controling the car with the remote one last time.

I think that is it for this prop.

All these scenes are very blurred and dark and have very little visual info to help figure out the prop. The cap I posted above is the best pic in the film.

One cool thing is that in the "stop" sequence you can see a little light bulb turn on as he brings it up to his mouth and then turn off as he brings it back down.

I'd luv to see the "on set" photos you've got. Can't wait!

Nick

Can you imagine if they took today's technology and what they learned from the other movies and re-did the '89 suit?

I was skimming through the new re-mastered '89 DVD, using an upconverting Blu-Ray player on a 53" LCD, and the suit looks bad a$$ when in motion. I think I actually like the "stiff-neck" turn-- very menacing.

The last pic is a dummy/mannequin.

He raises his hand, says "stop",then lowers his hand. Then it cuts to Vicky, then right back to him and his arm is raised again(because it really isn't him).
If you look close at the pic,you can see where the wire is coming out from under his cape to hold him up.
When the car stops, you see the dummy sway back and forth slightly.

Carry on....
