Acrylic Finish Over Plasti Dip
I've been plastidipping a large piece. Some sections came out matte and rough; others came out shiny and smooth. I removed as much of the plasti from the affected areas as I could w/mineral spirits, then resprayed. All that got me was different shiny areas and different rough ones.
Would it hurt the plastidip to spray a matte acrylic coating over it to get an even finish?

Re: Acrylic finish over plastidip?
is it a latex piece you are spraying?
Are there imperfections in the piece to cause that effect? Plasti will enhance rough spots.
Are you spraying the same distance all the way thru? Is the nozzle staying clear?
Sorry for the 20 questions, these are just things that might help solve the problem.

1) Yes
2) No
3 & 4)Yes
It seems to be overspray buildup that's causing the rough patches.
Anyway, what about my acrylic coat idea?

Re: Acrylic finish over plastidip?
I would say no acrylic spray over it.
Plasti-Dip is made 'give' a little and stretch somewhat, but acrylic will harden and become like a shell. I'd say it will crack, but I'm no expert.
I don't know much about it,but they make clear Plasti-Dip,so you might want to look into that.

An excellent point that hadn't occurred to me.

It's worth a try, although there are moments I'm tempted to just start over with a new piece. Although a little sandpaper here and there might smooth things out. We shall see....
