He will not be responding. My understanding is that he became unemployed and after that he was gone forever. It's always been my hope that at the least he's still alive and kicking. (he was a good guy, made my first set of 89 boots, I supplied the shoes and the armor, he applied the uppers for free).nondisclosed_email@example.com (efarrell4)Wed, 13 Sep 2023 12:05:32 +0000 Re: Studio Scale Batwinghttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2346571,from=rss#post2346571https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2346571,from=rss#post2346571Any updates on this. Absolutely and I think you'll be pleased.:wink I've been meaning to get some pictures up,but I got a couple of little things to do before a preview of what it will look like. I'm shooting for tomorrow hopefully and am currently working on it now a 2:51am as I type this. A quick verbal.. I'm detailing the top and bottom pretty much overall before I move on to the rest. I ripped out the entire cockpit. The seat and everything in there was off center and really crappy overall,so I'll just make all new stuff, which I've already started. I made a pretty accurate canopy frame for the glass. Two piece and fits like a glove. Damn proud of that. Still on the top, then I'll move to the bottom, which is already well on its way. I cut about 75% of the bottom out and have to completely redo it so both sides match. One side is thicker than the other,so it needs to be resculpted..accurately,of course. After this I'll join the wings, which are already cleaned up for the most part. A few things before attaching them, but nothing major. Although it seems slow going,I made lots of progress considering how bad it is. Matt used to own this kit. I got from Ed and I know crazzierbats has seen it. I think all three can tell you how incredibly horrible this is/was,but after experimenting with the top and the results I've gotten so far,the rest will be a piece of cake. Just time consuming, but fairly easy. I'll have pics soon. I might light it up but for now I think this is just going to be a static prop. There's not really much to light up,so it's not all that important to me;it's good just the way it is for me. I have another major project coming up that will be completely lighted in every which way,but that particular project warrants it. Moving parts and lighting would be up the individual builder and they would be completely on their own. Yeah,I may have bitten off more than I can chew with this one. :lol Nah,I'll git-r-done,and done right. :wink I might have to completely cut off the wing sections coming from the main body. I'm still contemplating this move,or if I even need to do it. The top I can work with. If I can split the two down the middle horizontally I can save the top, however I don't know how possible this is. The bottom is in such bad shape, distorted and uneven that it's not close to lining up with any of the raised areas underneath,so the wings *might* have to come off. This is,of course, very difficult to describe in words how off everything is,and pictures only tell part of the story, but there's so many flawed smaller areas throughout it's just overwhelming. Literally every square inch of this needs attention. These are the pics before I almost started. The right wing was missing the tip sections at both ends. You can see where I added them in by the color. In the side view you can clearly see how warped and crooked everything is. This is a side view of the main body. This is only to show the top. Now it's much more level and straight. The bottom is in the middle of being ripped apart and put back together. You'll see. Notice the how uneven the back part of the cockpit is down to the rear. Now the curve is much more true. It was actually 'wavey' as well, meaning not straight from the top view. Don't know if it can be seen in the other pics. Here's a top view The wings are also warped in a bad way,and as I mentioned, the right wing was missing both tips. The grills,or vents weren't even close to being level,so I sanded them off completely and made new ones and am currently leveling off the overall surface. I'm literally sawing parts off the bottom. It's really horrible down there. Most of where the wings start will have to completely redone. The rest on the main body will all have to sculpted and built up to be even with the rest. Due to the overall bad casting and being badly warped, some areas are way too thick and some much too thin. It just simply won't work the way it is. Ed,I see why this monstrosity sat for so long. I've been just messing with it for the last week on and off,but I bet I already have over forty hours into it....easily. I need to get over a few humps before I can start to refine it. Despite that,I feel very confident that this will really nice when it's done. Stay tuned.
