'89 Cowl Rear Seam
Here's a question that has tormented me since the film came out...
What's up with the strange rear seam on some of the 89 Cowls?
However, it's not on all the cowls though-
Any insight on this strange feature?

They split the cowl down the back to get it on easier,then 'welded' it back together.

remember that they made more than one cowl..I know that during the 1st two weeks of production they had to go back and shorten the ears on the cowl because they couldn't close the lid on the Batmobile or Batwing....also notice that there are 2 types of seams..the glossy seam and then the "spine" looking seam...I know that when I got to see the real deal 89 at Warner Bros that there was the spine looking seam..howevere it didn't appear to cut cut..I think it might have been part of the sculpt as it blended very well...I know that I have an article somewhere talking about this ..I'll try and locate it

This certainly is a mystery I have always wondered about.
Whatever the reasons for them, I hate the seams.
You can see that they continued in some fashion through B&R from the pics of the Clooney cowl that just sold through PIH. Although the execution certainly improved.

Yeah, I just recently noticed the shiney seam. It was the spine seam that bewildered me initially.
I think DYR1 actually sculpted the spine seam onto one of his cowls, too.
Don't have pics though.

Yes he did,about 4 years ago.
He took a poll before he decided and the majority went with the seam,so he sculpted it in.
