Re: Alternative to PlastiDip and undersuit idea
OK OK!!! I forgot! Getting Batclone ready for Dragoncon got in the way. :whip
The shiny one is with the tire paint. That's kind of obvious. I think it was 3 coats of 50/50 dilluted then a final coat of non-dilluted. I scratched and flexed at it yesterday. Nothing is coming off.
I'm still not real fond of the brush on method. Also still have to test it on bodysuits. I don't smell much of anything either. This could be a good alternative.

Re: Alternative to PlastiDip and undersuit idea
I'm trying something else, too. Have sprayed some of my armor with Rustoleum paint for plastic. Went on very nicely, especially for someone like me who's dangerous with a can of spray paint...invariably I get too close and have drips. Not a one this time. Doesn't have the tackiness of the tire paint, either. How it'll wear remains to be seen. Updates when I have any...

Re: Alternative to PlastiDip and undersuit idea
Sorry, no pictures yet. I forgot my camera today.
So, I got a urethane begins cowl and have been worried about it matching the rest of the armor. Take a big guess right now. Tire paint works on the test area so far! I've brushed on a non-dilluted test area. It's dried, flexes, and isn't being scraped off. As soon as I get the cajones to do the rest, I will!
The tests on a body glove dive suit have been OK so far. It does dry, but not the same color as the paint on top of armor. I'll be using plasti-dip on some of those areas then going back over them with the tire paint.
This stuff is turning out pretty good so far. My beings suit is close to done already. New thread for that tomorrow with further tire paint updates.

Re: Alternative to PlastiDip and undersuit idea
I have new armor coming soon. It'll be "raw" with no dye or paint and I plan on using the Rustoleum paint for plastic on it. Will post pics and info as soon as I can.

Re: Alternative to PlastiDip and undersuit idea
As much as I hate plasti-dip, I was trying to give it a shot with my begins suit. All the stuff has done is bubble up and peel badly. The last straw was installing the cape clips. I'll be peeling up the dip from the chest piece and going over all of it with the tire paint. I hit the point where enough is enough. The tire paint bonds WELL with the latex. The plasti held up around the forearms and knees, but nowhere else.
Mad at plasti-dip face....ok, actually, look around the cape clips at where it came up bad plus where it's 'skinned' over the chest area.

"High five"
You're not only the president, but a member, too!
My next job is peeling off all the plasti dip and covering the body with tire paint. I'll be a lot happier then.
