Licensed Cowls
I am looking for decent pics of the retail cowls. I found place that has a couple and I ned some pics so I can know which is which.
I know how the 89 and 92 are different because of the emblems, but the Kilmer and Clooney are confusing me. I can pick a Sonar ou of a lineup because I own one, but I want to see the differences in the two retail Panther cowls.
Thanks guys,
B :batman

Re: ---Pics requested---
First, here's at least a link showing some available, licensed cowls - including Clooney, Returns, and possibly a Panther or modified Clooney, Im not sure.
http://www.badplanet.com/asp/itemlist.asp?T=I&K=batman
One of our seasoned Bros explained the differences between Panther and Clooney in the Cowl Archives, that might be helpful:
Batman Forever / 95 / Kilmer a.k.a Panther
Very sleek and muscular, and the first cowl to be a bit shiny in nature, as was the rest of the suit. Also the first cowl to have the ears sweep from the back of the head forward. Very organic in nature, yet still simplistic. No scallops on the neck this time, and the black bat emblem is over a brass colored base.
Batman & Robin / 97 / Clooney a.k.a Bucket
Similar to the panther cowl except the ears became much more geometric, the neck extending much lower to meet up with the emblem, and also had very small scallop-like edges which meet up with cape clips. Also the first cowl to not be black. The brow was very furrowed and extended out a little more than any of the others. Small scallops on the neck with a solid bat emblem and base color.

Re: ---Pics requested---
as far as licensed cowls are concerned, they never did a "Panther". The only Kilmer cowl that was produced was the Sonar cowl, in a couple different versions. There are afew different styles of the Clooney cowl. So the ones you see that have the long ears and big brows, are all Clooney cowls.

Re: ---Pics requested---
Thanks guys, this cleared a lot up.
Did the licsensed '97 have a slit in the back?
The woman said that one cowl had a yellow and black symbol, so it's either an 89 or 92. The other is just a black one without an emblem, so it has to be a Begins, Sonar, or "Bucket," as Zane so eloquently put it :lol
I'm personally hoping for the 97 Clooney, as it looks more comic-book than the Sonar or Begins does.

Re: ---Pics requested---
There are 3 versions of the Cloney that I am aware of. The "deluxe" cowl which is vinyl, has the velcro closure running verticle up the back, and is usually of decent form and quality. Its small tho, like the Returns Commemorative and would not fit someone with over a 22" head very comfortably. There was also the latex version, which only has the little piece of velcro that attaches the slit, it usually needs some "fixing up", as its not as sturdy as the viynl one. It would fit someone with a 23". There is also another latex version, which is HUGE. Its also the one thats the biggest piece of crap. Bad pulls, very flimsy.
You defintely should ask for a pic first before you buy.

Re: ---Pics requested---
Avoid all licesed cowls period. They all are junk and are nowhere near as good as the ones people make around here.

Re: ---Pics requested---
Shadowbat69, they have both cowls on display in the store. I'm going to try to make a run down there Tuesday to check them both out.
mykbyk95; True, licsensed cowls are crap, but they are cheap and good for a budget.
Not to worry, I'm working my way through the good retail masks on my way to a Reevz.
The only problem with his stuff is I can't afford it right now.
And if one of you guys says "you could if you didn't buy licsensed crap" I'm gonna :whack

Hey Batbrat, I just noticed your new avatar. No offense but I always thought the previous pic looked a little frumpy. This new one looks really good. I actually did a double take. Really, I did!

Re: ---Pics requested---
The cowl in my avitar is the Deluxe cowl with the plastic mask re-enforcing the face and forhead. It's a little big, but it's ok. I had to get the licensed cowl because I can't find anyone to make me one.
I wish buying pieces from people wasn't so "under-ground" and we could just to an online store and buy them.

Re: ---Pics requested---
SC DarkKnight I never would have noticed your cowl is the Delux. I've seen some pictures that make it look absolutely terrible, and just figured that all of the pictures that made it look good were obvious marketing tricks. I might consider getting one of those now, because unless I win the lottery I don't think I'll be able to get a custom for a loooong time. Thanks for sharing.
Is the plastic mask you speak of the adult rubies mask?
