D*C Utility Belt Tutorial

So many of you commented on the new belt I "threw" together for D*C, I thought I'd give a brief tutorial. This is from the rebuilt belt I did after a returned home. The first draft was completely trashed after our photo shoot (only DAP'ped it together). So, here are the upgrades and parts list:

Heavy Duty 2" nylon web belt 5.98 @ Lowes

8 x American Tourist small camera bags 1.97 each @ Walmart

8 x 3/16" binder post and screw $.80 a set

8 x 10x1 fender washers

1 x 3x3 or 4x4 gift card tin box 1.88 @ Walmart Paint it gold

1 x awl from Kobalt tools 5.98 @ Lowes

1 x 3 pcs 'rang set 10.00 (internet, you'll have room for 4 sets)

1 x can tan spray paint (make sure it works on fabric) then over spray with gold. You can keep or remove the rubber logo on the camera bags. I painted everything first. The paint never did dry on the bag logos so I removed them (I may leave the black oval left on pouch in place ...you'll see)

Apply velcro to front of clip buckle and back of painted gift box tin. Place buckle, centered, on clip. Lay down a pouch on each side of the buckle (keep it tight to buckle).

In pic 2 you see how the back top seam of the pouch lines up with the top of belt, that is your placement. Mark your pouch position.

Use the awl to push a hole through the belt and place the threaded post in that hole (this is not easy). Use the awl to push a hole through the back of pouch.

Place screw through washer then through hole in pouch and screw it into the post on the belt. Each post is roughly three inches apart on center and one inche down from top of belt. Yours may vary depending on what you like. Repeat this process for all pouches keeping them tightly grouped.

OK! Hope that helps. I love this belt and now I beat the sh@# out of it and it will take it!

I started my utility belt two days ago using your plans and I must say it is really fun to do! I used two screws on one pouch that I am going to use for my wallet but the rest I am just using one. I have a casting of Kilmer's belt buckle that I am going to attach to it.

Awesome Idea!

Thanks Guys. Glad you are inspired to create your own. It is very tough and durable. I will add four 'rang pouches so I can deploy between 12 to 18 'rangs
