Hydrocal Drying Time

Hey fellas, this is my first time working with the stuff and it says that the set time is 20-30 minutes. Well, today is day 2 and it's still damp and powdery. Whats up?

After 2 days it should definately be set up.

The only things I could think of is either your mix ratio was off, the humidity where you're trying to cure it is WAY too high, or you got a bad batch.

When we've used it I generally let it go overnight just to be certain...and it's always completely set by the next morning so you definately have some problem with what you're dealing with.

Hope you get it all worked out man.

Not a problem bro.

If you have a dehumidifyer to put it in front of or a warm place in the sun (not too hot, don't want it to dry too fast and crack) you can put your piece there and see if that helps any at all.

Good luck.

If it didn't set by now, it's either an old batch of plaster, or you seriously added too much water.
It will probably dry out, but it will be very fragile.
What are you making a mold of?

Yea I definately added too much water. The first batch of hydrocal was fine, then when it started gradually hardening in the bucket I kept adding water and layering it on top. It eventually just crumbled off the piece in pieces, lol. I think I'll just do it old school and pour the hydrocal into a box and set the piece in on top.
