Aquaseal

I've just received my Aquaseal tube today and it says to apply and hold for about 10 minutes, but that the dry time is 8-12 hours!!

Obviously I'm not going to stand for 10 hours so I am wondering if I'll be able to take the suit off after an hour without it unglueing...

Mel, I am not speaking from experience but I think the armor might detach when you're taking off the undersuit. Be better to use this kind of glue with a mannequin.

Hopefully someone who's actually done this will chime in.

Let us know how it goes. You might be a trailblazer with this.

well that'd be a first :)

if i do it on a mannequin it's not going to fit me perfectly so that's no option. I think.

Unless you make a duct tape dummy of yourself...then it should fit the same and be easier to glue up.

Re: Aquaseal question.

Mel,
What I did with mine is to glue it in stages. First, I spot glued the pieces to the wetsuit to get them in the right place. The sealant I used held enough for me to wriggle out of the suit after several minutes. When those initial spots dried, I carefully glued down the perimeter of each piece and let it completely dry. Finally, I touched up at the very edges with crazy glue.

I did the chest first all the way through, then the legs.

Once the pieces were in place, it wasn't hard to glue them down the rest of the way. I put one hand inside the suit to press it and make sure it stuck down with no gaps.
