Batguano Resin Belt Mod Tutorial
Some know and some dont... I am a total panther guy, but the begins belt, i LOVE. I have now had two batguano belts and I am going to share some tricks I implemented into my V2 guano belt.
I was hesitant, because I am about to start producing my own belt and the rear clasp will be very similar to the one I used here. But what ever. Just remember where you saw it first ;)
here is a sneak peek of my buckle sculpt. I am going to swap it into this belt as soon as I pull some.
So with the new version of the guano belt, we have curved links that are also 33% slimmer. They are now right around 1/2", rather than 3/4".
Personally, i wanted a smooth, machined look from my belt so I sanded all of the crinkle look off the face of all the links. I also hated the fact that a plastic clip held the belt together like a fanny pack so I brainstormed until i came up with what I feel is SUPER trick. MAGNETS. The whole belt is covered in magnets so i figured while im at it, lets see if we can do something cool with the back. So this is what I came up with.
The magnets are not what I originally had in mind, but they have 13lb pull force each X2 X3 (13 each magnet) so they hold very well. My production belt will have custom machined magnets.
The next step was to get the wire to conceal on both ends. So rather than having the loop at the back, i put the loop at the front. After drilling the two holes for it, i dremelled a channel so that the wire would sink into the "c" link at the other end. I have capped the wire on one side and the other has been solder filled and will fold over into a channel, then is sandwiched with the finishing plate. Please dont make me take it apart for pics LOL.
and with both my belts, i opted to sink out the molded in hardware and put in some real stuff...
Sorry about the model. Nobody can grasp the camera here.

Re: Batguano/ Resin belt addendum tutorial-- there had to be a better way ;)
WOW! That's one sweet belt! Let me know when it's finished, as I'm putting together a hybrid suit--this would be PERFECT.

To make it clear, the belt pictured is a batguano... my belt will be different.
Guano will chime in im sure, as his belts are available now.. or as far as I know, they are..

I used the magnets to "clasp" my BG belt also. Yours looks a lot better than mine though.

I think that looks like a cool idea, I've been working on a kinda, similar...kinda, idea for my metal Begins belt.
I want to see you jumping off of something with the magnets in place.
Just want to know how powerful they are.

Re: Batguano/ Resin belt addendum tutorial-- there had to be a better way ;)
I have tried to get it to break loose... doesnt happen. The belt is a bit bit without armor, so once i do another suit build in a few weeks ill try some more...
Some side notes, when you pull the belt strait apart-- it is nearly impossible to break them. But if you "flex" or bend the magnet joint, they come apart.. if you can imagine what im getting at...
I was going to use custom magnet plates with my TDK belt but cost will be a premium and these i have used here work excellent-- i think they were 1.70 a pair. My belt will have 5 sets,, POSSIBLY 8 depending on which route i go with the back link.
