Re: Just a sneek peak of what I might offer soon.... to a lucky few.
Youv got it MT... 9 spots left.. LOL.
Thanks for the kind words guys..
I am having a horrible time matching the color... I am now around 45.00 invested in spray paint.. I have tried them all... LOL.. anyone have any suggestions? I am going to take the pics i have to an auto paint store and hope for the best.
This is an unexpected hassle. I will now have to airbrush all the parts unless someone has the majic answer on the paint...

Looks good so far.
Quote: I am having a horrible time matching the color.
What are you trying to match the color to?
The real belt?
Most people went with Krylon Gilded Brass with the grapple guns(basically the same color as the belt),but in my opinion it's too bright.
Go with a darker brass color. It's a lot darker than most people think.
I found a perfect color a few years ago when I did mine,but I can't remember what it was...sorry.
It was an 'off the shelf' spray paint, though.
Something to consider while you're still in the beginning stages,if it's important to you...
Each "I" link,as well as the back links are actually curved, and not flat.
No magnets in the belt either, which is a common misconception. Each metal strip inserted into the links are also curved.
Many people have complimented me on mine and it's accuracy, and I do appreciate it,however it is far from being accurate. There's so many things wrong with it,and I'd hate to see you make the same mistakes.
The real buckle can actually spin forward/backward completely around too. It's meant to flex with the movement of the body both back and forth,as well as up and down.
Making one accurate belt is quite an undertaking, let alone ten,so good luck with that.:lol
If I knew then what I know now,it would've been accurate. Maybe one day I'll fix it.

Re: Just a sneek peak of what I might offer soon.... to a lucky few.
Thanks for the kind words John,, still hope to see pics of yours some day. Assistance goes a long way ;)
I know theyre not magnets.. and that they are curved.. and that is part of my dilemma. I may use steel, and then magnets in the accessories.. for the novelty. I dont think ill be inserting them though. The pics I have look like there is a machined channel that they sit in.. I wont be going that route.
I didnt think the links were curved though. ill have to look closer. I do know that at least one of the back links is curved, and that is on the list of to-do's.
Off the shelf paint. Hmm. I have searched to my wits end. I have 3 more possibilities to shoot for tomorrow.. we will see what happens.
What i really want to see is
http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=92
202642 Classic Bronze
Its not in any stores i have been in or called. I bought the darker version and its way too dark.
If you ever get a chance to shoot pics.. it would be super appreciated kbillan at verizon.net

I'm not sure if I'm saying it correctly.
To be more clear, not curved as in when you're looking at it straight on from the front, the top and bottom are curved. They're flat on the top and bottom.
The curve I mean is that they curve around your body, meaning if it was laying flat on a table,as in your pics, they're curved side to side,so they wouldn't really lay flat.
Looking directly at the link from the front, the top and bottom are flat. Looking down on it,it's contoured to wrap around.
Imagine a playing card laying flat on a table.
It's flat. Now pick it up and hold it by the sides, then squeeze a little and put it back down.
Now the center is slightly higher than the sides and it creates a 'hill' of sorts.
Now take seven cards(to represent seven links) and lay them flat side by side in a row. They would just lay flat.
Then take all seven cards, square them up and stack them, then squeeze them a little, and lay them flat again, side by side.
Instead of a flat surface, now they appear to be a series of seven 'bumps',if that makes any sense.
The idea is for them to naturally curve around your body.
Each metal strip is also curved this way to follow the contour of the link. Looking at them from the front, they're flat, but looking down on them from the top, they're curved slightly.
You may have already understood what I meant, but just in case I wasn't explaining it right.:wink
Also, that may very well be the paint I used. I'm about 95% sure it was. I'd say I either got it at Home Depot or Lowes.
It definitely wasn't Wal*Mart because I've never been in one. I don't even know what the inside of a Wal*Mart looks like, and I never will.
Here's the link to my belt from start to finish...

EDIT:I just went through that thread and noticed lots of pics are missing. I definitely have them,so I'll have to go back and fix them. I might have moved them around in my photobucket account, and I think that screws it up if you do that.

when it comes to color, i gotta say I always had a soft spot for the color used by the infamous Bronze Armory guy. The shape of his BB belt was nice too, it had a nice curve to sit on the hip, it wasn't a straight «V» if you catch my drift (and by the way i still find your belt amazing Blackwoodbat).

Looks good, Keith.
For the center buckle did you just use the one from the Rubies belt?

Have you considered maybe going the route of cold casting the pieces in a bronze?

Ink-- yes and no. Yes i used the black part, but shopped the heck out of it as the rubies piece is tiny. I also used the top and bottom button, cut out of the rubies... the outer ring was machined in plastic and foam... and then it was all put together. There are some things i am going to change in the center dial yet.
I was originally going to do an aluminum belt but.. threw that out 3 months ago..
