Keith,as for the links being curved,I got that from what I would consider an extremely reliable source.
I was walked through the basic construction of it,i.e.,the curved links and pivotal buckle and how everything was assembled, and it all makes perfect sense.
I've never seen the belt up close myself and used as many pictures as I could find for reference, but this person did see it,and I believe him.

It's claimed the curve is very subtle, but it's there.

I'm only gong by what I was told,so I can't back this up through personal experience.:wink

The only drawback to this is,it would require a two piece mold, but casting it wouldn't be much different than a one piece mold.
It would probably be a [lack of a better word],a two piece 'push' mold, much like casting a miniature car body.

If that helps any.

My thoughts on that are that my links will be flat.. LOL.

My back link ideas are these...

#1 im going to make the parts perfect flat and then see if boiling them makes them pliable.. if they are, i will find a form that will act as an anvil of sorts and just press it agains it for the curve.

When that doesnt work... plan b.... pulling a part as it is almost cured and then bending it... (thats actually how i got my C links close to perfect ;) after that i will make a new mold of the part and then have to HOG out the back with every part...

Luckily, i dont plan on making a ton of belts LOL...

the great news is that i primered a buckle and sanded it... and it turnout out great.. i made al new molds last night and am currently pulling beutiful buckles... should have a painted one by the end of the night..

You know what I think I read somewhere? that the part shaped line an «I» (the so called links I guess)is not symetrical, in the sense that, in order to allow the belt to curve properly, the top half of each link is just a bit smaller, and the other half a bit wider...or something like that. half way across the belt, like at the forth link, that principal is reversed: the top half is a bit wider, the bottom a bit narrower (sp?). creating that curved shape:

...I used the first link I could find to explain what I mean.
Could anyone confirm this?

Yup. Actually, if you look really closely at the pics available, its not only the tops and bottoms.. but the center section. The links from the 4th back appear to just be symmetrical. My belt will be the same.

NOW i need opinions...

here is a pic of an almost finished buckle next to my guano and rubies. I am having an IMPOSSIBLE time finding a color I want to use.

from top to bottom=
Krylon metallic gold over tan fuzion
Rustoleum Classic brass- over grey primer
rubies

then the links are done in classic bronze over bare plastic.. and "bronze" over primer..

I dont know what to do and im sick of wasting money on paint. Its about to be ghetto gold.

I understand your frustration Kbillan, our desire from authenticity can be expensive. Anyways, I prefer the one in the middle (Krylon metallic gold over tan fuzion if I understand correctly), its a less flashy color, has less of a «hey look at my bling bling» feel! Thanks for keeping us up to date, you're doing great!! :guitar

don't worry I'm back. No I was refering to the buckle in the middle of the picture. The two links next to it have a nice shade also.

Evidently, a photo doesn't always give a faithful representation of the colors...I'm guessing you used a flash to take these pics? like I mentionned earlier, I have a soft spot for the B.A. belt, shape and color, that's why I chose the second one.

Since you have them in front of you, if you feel this photo is too bright, (you mention the buckle being «so dark» in person, maybe its not the color to go with...could you take a picture without flash?
