Very nice :)

I hope its alright if I point out a couple inaccuracies I see though.

-The screen-used clips weren't a uniform thickness. I believe they get a bit thinner towards the corner with the recessed nut.

-The screen-used clips have a series of rectangular slots cut into the edges around the perimeter of the piece.

Looks great however. emoticon

Hey Kevin, that's cool. Like the belt the cape clips are still in the modelling stage. Any accurate pics would be greatly appreciated. I still need to add the side hollows.

Brad.

What Patrick says about the uniform thickness is true. I've heard that from a reliable source.

Hard to tell from the pics but they look to have a slight curve (i.e. they wouldn't lay flat on a table). I understand that is also accurate.

I finially found some time.. or made some.. to give the CNC a try. Thought I try something simple like a cape clip. So here are some pics of the mold being made. I'll use resin to make a master, then do some fine sanding to remove the machine marks...then I could cast a master silicon mold.

The process should lend itself to making all sorts of cool stuff. But Im still learning.

Re: Begins 3D Belt

They arent hard to build. The hard part is the software to drive it and draw. It cost about $2000 to build then a couple of hundred for bits... if you want a good collection.. then the software for the CAD and the software to drive the CNC. But it's good fun. Just very times consuming to learn. I got to build a vacuum system next to clear the mess as its cutting.

I thought I'd just fill it with some urethane to see what it looks like. I'll post some pics latter. Also it was finished with a 1/32 inch bit. I got a few 1/64 bits on the way.

 :)
