Re: Foamies Chest

lol A little dramatic I suppose. No I seriously have never heard of a product called "foamies" (after seeing the term on the board quite a few times I figured it was just slang or whatever).

After taking a quick peak at the michael's website, it looks you can do a lot with a sheet. I suppose it really doesn't matter what colour you get as you can change that with latex and plasti dip (not sure what those entail completely -again I'm new- but I'll figure it out!) lol

Re: Foamies Chest

Sorry for "hijacking" your thread before battexan. lol I do have a question about the foamies you used in the chest armour: is there a reason for why you opted for 2 3mm foamies sheets instead of 1 6mm sheet for the pecs?

I noticed some confusion regarding this, as if no one has been able to find 6mm sheets? I just happened to pick up a whole bunch of 6mm sheets yesterday at Michaels.

Re: Foamies Chest

how much do you all pay per sheet of foamies, and how many sheets does it usually take to make a chest plate or leg pieces?

I pay 1.50 for a 3mm. 12x18" sheet. I'd guess about 9 sheets for a chest and 5 for some thighs :wink

Re: Foamies Chest

Been out of town for a week, so I missed this thread getting resurrected!

Mikey, I did just what you said and slit the back to make, but I used velcro for now; seems to work okay.

Jason, don't worry about hijacking, you had questions and this was a good place to ask. I've not found anything locally thicker than 3mm, so that's why I had to glue up the chest, so if you've got 6mm, that saves you a step!

To everybody who's commented and answered questions, thanks! I've been working on other stuff (cowl sculpts), so I haven't posted pix yet of the finished chest armor, or the legs yet. I'll see if I can remedy that soon! :batman

Re: Foamies Chest

Thanks for clarifying that Tom! The one problem I see coming up with using 6mm foamies is that they are very stiff and probably don't offer the flexibility of 3mm (even when doubled up). I'll give it ago soon enough!

Jason.
