Batman & Captain America Busts - 1:1 Scale - Pics

Hey everyone...

Just found these pics of a batman bust I made about 10 or 11 years ago. I think I kinda went overboard on the ear length (to say the least. :) ) But it was fun to look back at this... I am planning on sculpting a new one soon, keep an eye out.

I am also posting a Captain America bust I did about 2 years ago just for fun. I sculpted it in about 8 hours as a test to see how quickly I could bang it out!

Thanks for looking

I loved that Blue Whale stuff man!
I don't think the ears are bad at all.
Thanks for bringing these old pics back out.

The Cap. America is very nice for only an 8 hour sculpt.

Thanks for the comments!

The Cap one was done on a lifecast. Basically, I was sculpting just a cowl (to stop at the jaw line) which would end up going under a spandex hood to give it the proper shape.

So instead of stopping there, I wanted to challenge myself to make it a display piece too. I must mention that Andy W. did a bit of smoothing out on the ears and eyes, but overall, the sculpt took about 8 hours. There are definitely things I would go back and change, but seeing as it was just for fun, I figured.. what the h#$%%..

Thanks again for looking.

Brin.. thanks for the comments on the Blue Whale stuff... lots more fun stuff coming in 08.

thanks again...

I just found this too....

Here is a pic of the suits I created with J Standard for Amoco Gasoline CO. as they were promoting Batman and Robin. We built them as stunt suits so they were a bit more "sectioned" to enable the performers to flip, run, etc, and perform the show. You can see how we used the bust as the final mask too, just cut out mouth and eye area. These were made about 10 or 11 years ago also....

thanks for looking
