Re: 5 of the 8 tumbler air foils done and in place
be prepared for a massive commitment. Once you start this, you will find that backing out if you get tired, discouraged, or wounder if this is worth it, will be hard once you start spending money and time, because then everything up that point will be lost. Read my build log thats on our dullam-causey chat board. you will find some good insight as to how this is going to affect you. It WILL affect you. It will also affect others around you such as girl friends, wife, kids. I am damn glad that I did this, but I would not wanna do this again. Not at all.

Re: 5 of the 8 tumbler air foils done and in place
ya thats why its gonna be the weekend deal.
we all have open time and our money pool is gonna fluctuate so when the time is there we'll spend it and when the money is there we'll spend it.
we dont have a deadline at all so we plan on this being our college build.

Re: 5 of the 8 tumbler air foils done and in place - new pic.
Here's a shot I just took. this is the afterburner as I just finished up the first half of it. Still have to build the stuff inside the outer hoop. tons of parts inside that hoop. The outer hoop is brushed aluminum that has to be painted. Most of the front section is done, but still have to stick in the guns.
The afterburner was cast off of a clay sculpture of it. There is a second half that connects to it, and rides between the two rear coil-over shocks.

Re: 5 of the 8 tumbler air foils done and in place
Cool looking car. Good thing they used it in more than one movie. Looks like you went with shiny instead of what I more of a matt finish like I though tit was in the movie, I can't remember. I personally like it shiny. Well nice job. Hope it drives great you have a good enough time to make it all worth it. You can always sell it and so I am sure the money you put in will pay off when the dust settles and you have had your fun.

Hi Bob,
Is the steering set up the same as the movie car?

Re: 5 of the 8 tumbler air foils done and in place
no, it's actually Matt finish, just that in the second pic, I had hosed it down with water. The matt finish collects dust like mad, and the grooves and nooks are dust magnets as well.
Yes, steering is the same. I had to strip it all down piece by piece, everything to paint the chassis. what a pain. you strip it down, and have to clean up the steel for painting. every inch. a million socket head bolts. got every size of allen wrench you can imagine. metric, non-metric.
so here I am still building some small stuff, and assembling some stuff. I tried to stay as close to the original as possible.

Mind boggling. Like wearing a Navy Seal Trident, I'd love to have it but wouldn't want to go through what I'd have to in order to earn it. Well done sir!
