Is it possible to plasti dip the foam muscle chestplates that come off the Rubies batman costumes?

Re: Plasti Dipping rubies chestplate
I did that a couple of years ago with a begins chest, and it worked pretty well actually. The only thing to remember is that it is going to soak up a ton of plasti, so it could take quite a bit.

Re: Plasti Dipping rubies chestplate
bushidobaggins is right. i am not sure on the price of latex or plasti were you are but i latex it cheaper it might pay to get yourself a tub of latex to paint over the chest first. then coat it in plasti.
it may require a few coats but it will help stop the chest from soaking it up.

your suggesting spray painting that coar of latex on first right? Would it be possible to just a brush to do the same thing?

the problem with brushing on latex is you get brush strokes.

Re: Plasti Dipping rubies chestplate
I really dont think you can find the latex you would need at a hardware store, do not confuse rubber latex with latex paint.
many years ago I plasti dipped a foam chest it took maybe 4 or 5 cans if I remember correctly ... just keep spraying ... the first 3 cans you will think it is never going to build up but it will
I found these two photos

Re: Plasti Dipping rubies chestplate
you can spray plasti dip the chest piece, but it will take several cans.

Re: Plasti Dipping rubies chestplate
As these fine people have stated it will work but it will look better than the Rubies without the plasti, which will make you want an even better looking piece. This is how you end up in the costuming support group telling everyone on your first night how you never thought it would happen to you.
