Re: Afterburner on tumbler mounted
Just adding these two small brackets took two whole days.

Re: Afterburner on tumbler mounted
I'm drooling over this bro, I really am.
What do your neighbors think of your building a batmobile in the garage?

Re: Afterburner on tumbler mounted
well, the elderly lady next door came over and fliped one day. I couldn't stop her from talking. Another neighbor called with a plumbing problem and said "if you can build a batmobile, you're easily smart enough to fix my plumbing". It affects people in strange ways...
a better shot of the little bracket.

Re: Afterburner on tumbler mounted
good question. wish I knew. no, the bracket is the piece connected to the piston like thing, which is actually a gas stabilizer. it basically holds the afterburner to the rear U shaped hoop there. The big headache here was getting the whole darn thing centered, and in proper position, so you can drill bolt holes to actually hold it in place. so you spend hrs. figiting with the darn thing. I also had to make the bracket from scratch, as there are few parts that actually match parts on the original, that I have found.
If you note on the original I have to add another stabilizer to each bracket. Now THOSE I have no idea why they are there. Just Nolan just put em' there(kitbash). about 10% of the outside detail is just visual, but the rest is actually there for a purpose.
Next step is to finish and install the "feathers" of the afterburner. The part where the flames actually shoot out. Over 50 pieces just inside that dark gold hoop. And putting it together is roughly the equivilent of putting together about 2-3 begins belts with hinges. It will expand and contract, ala f-14 fighter jet afterburner. Nothing on this car is an easy casual build. none of it. every aspect requires study, planning, thinking, a big mess to clean up afterwards.
