Gluing Velcro To Urethane
Hey bros, I was wondering what the best glue is to use for putting velcro on my Reeves cowl? :signal

Re: Gluing velcro to a urethane cowl
well if its that then just grab some industrial strength adhesive like locktite or something like that. but all my velcro has 2 sticky sides.

Re: Gluing velcro to a urethane cowl
Self adhesive Velcro doesn't stick to urethane.
Use a low grit sandpaper and rough up the spots where you want to stick the Velcro and use a glue like Bondini, Loctite, Zap-A-Gap or Super Glue, to glue the Velcro to that spot.
You can use the self stick Velcro for this too... It doesn't have to be Velcro without the sticky backing. It'll work just as fine, either way.
Try and use the gel formula, rathe rthan the runny/watery kind. You'll get more control, as well as use ONLY the amount you need. And then try and "clamp" the Velcro firmly into place for about five minutes or so, for the best results. You don't actually need a clamp to do this. You can use a weight or something heavy to hold it in place.
Good luck! :up

Re: Gluing velcro to a urethane cowl
Any of the gel "super glue" brands work evenly. They're all pretty much the same.
Just use whatever your local hardware store, crafts supply, Wal*Mart, Lowes, Home Depot, etc happens to have.
