I'm still completely unsure what to do. I need to get the fabrics lighter first, because the jacket is a dark blue, and the pants are black, so I need to get them lighter for the purple to show through, or so I'm told. Makes sense though. I'm thinking I may need to use more remover and dye than neccessary, because I heard that wool is more resistant to dye. So...that's what I'm currently thinking. I don't know.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Nightshade0020)Sun, 13 Jul 2008 13:22:17 +0000 Re: Dying a Suit - Request for Helphttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2101111,from=rss#post2101111https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2101111,from=rss#post2101111Quote:Brin Londo wrote: I dyed a pair of polyester/rayon slacks purple, they started out gray. Thanks. nondisclosed_email@example.com (TheInsomniac85)Sun, 13 Jul 2008 10:22:38 +0000 Re: Dying a Suit - Request for Helphttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2101078,from=rss#post2101078https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2101078,from=rss#post2101078If the RIT remover doesn't work you might have to just sit it in bleach for a 1/2 hour. A lot of people say not to use bleach but for me it worked great and did not damage the fabric. Then dye the fabric but be sure to let it sit in the dye. The longer it sits the deeper the color will be. Good luck. I hope this works for you.nondisclosed_email@example.com (weaponx 28)Sun, 13 Jul 2008 02:23:06 +0000 Re: Dying a Suit - Request for Helphttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2101059,from=rss#post2101059https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2101059,from=rss#post2101059I dyed a pair of polyester/rayon slacks purple, they started out gray. I was told by a good friend that I can use Rit Dye Color Remover and then purple Rit Dye to get my suit all set and I figured I'd do it this weekend and have it for the premeire Thursday night. After running it all through and doing everything as well as I believe I could've....the suit's appearance really....isn't different at all. Other than it now sporting purple tags. I'm a bit worried because it was a hundred dollar suit, and it....isn't purple, and I've only got five more days until the premeire The suit is 70 percent wool, 30 percent polyester. I was told as long as it had less than 50 percent polyester, the material's deal about dying wouldn't be much of a factor. And I was also told that there's the possibility I'll have to just dye it alot more to get it to work because apparently, thats how it works with wool. I honestly don't know, it's my first time dyeing much of anything, so my skills go as far as the advice I'm given. If anyone can lead me in any direction to get this thing purple before the midnight premeire, I'm all ears. Thanks alot, guys. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Nightshade0020)Sat, 12 Jul 2008 18:31:39 +0000
