What im going to do is put a mesh bodysuit ( :whip haha) over the undersuit (a wetsuit in my case) to simulate the chainmail that bale has on his suit from tdk. then on top of that im attaching pieces of armor. sooo... it MIGHT be easy to clean! hahaha i wouldnt know..... I HAVE NEVER BUILT A BATMAN SUIT BEFORE :batman ... this is my first one. haha nondisclosed_email@example.com (blakjak13)Thu, 17 Jul 2008 10:12:16 +0000 Re: considering making a Hybrid Begins TDKhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2102142,from=rss#post2102142https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2102142,from=rss#post2102142Wow!! thats answered all my questions :dancespot I dont have anything on paper yet, but I fly out on holiday on Monday and will take my sketch pad. I like the TDK suit I think :huh (not seen the film yet)but I think is beyond my capabilities and wallet and I like the Begins and the 89. So I'm going to play around with a few ideas. It will be total Hybrid with ideas stolen from various sources, with the emphasis on budget :raiseeybrow Its anew direction as I have gone the comic route. If I stick foamies to an undersuit is it easy to clean :huh nondisclosed_email@example.com (ninjaq)Thu, 17 Jul 2008 05:25:26 +0000 Re: considering making a Hybrid Begins TDKhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2102129,from=rss#post2102129https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2102129,from=rss#post2102129Im making kinda the same thing, and what i did was i took the foam (which is actually from a camping sleeping mat, probably 1/4" thick), cut them to the shape i wanted, and went to the auto parts store i work at and sprayed them with about 4 coats of Duplicolor truck bed liner. Yes, truck bed liner. It leaves a nice durable and very flexable surface, a sort of satin black. It leaves a smooth and semi rubbery surface that i think looks great! i think its perfect for what im doing, and from the sounds of what youre doing, it would work great for you too. nondisclosed_email@example.com (blakjak13)Thu, 17 Jul 2008 03:33:16 +0000 Re: considering making a Hybrid Begins TDKhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2102104,from=rss#post2102104https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2102104,from=rss#post2102104I highly recommend you latex the pieces first otherwise the plastidip wrinkles. I know this from 3 foamie suits...I will do that when I re-do my begins suit, it will make the suit look pretty low quality if you don't do this step. Oh BTW Brin :mail nondisclosed_email@example.com (doesitcomeinblack101)Thu, 17 Jul 2008 01:13:58 +0000 Re: considering making a Hybrid Begins TDKhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2102103,from=rss#post2102103https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2102103,from=rss#post2102103They only shrink if you heat them too much. You have to let them just start to get flexible, then pull them from the heat and mold.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Brin Londo)Thu, 17 Jul 2008 01:02:01 +0000 Re: considering making a Hybrid Begins TDKhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2102007,from=rss#post2102007https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2102007,from=rss#post2102007If you're looking to use heat on foamies I'd recommend experimenting with them a little, I started playing around with that last night and they shrink I would say around 20% from their original size. So watch out for that.nondisclosed_email@example.com (archytextural)Wed, 16 Jul 2008 19:47:35 +0000 Re: considering making a Hybrid Begins TDKhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2101939,from=rss#post2101939https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2101939,from=rss#post2101939Foamies, or EVA foam CAN be heat formed. I would latex the pieces of Foamie before spraying on the Plastidip. -Brinnondisclosed_email@example.com (Brin Londo)Wed, 16 Jul 2008 15:09:48 +0000 Re: considering making a Hybrid Begins TDKhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2101898,from=rss#post2101898https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2101898,from=rss#post2101898I have made three or four foamies suits in the past. My experience shows that when you spray them, they curl up on there own. I just taped mine to a flat surface to keep them flat. Maybe you can do the same and just tape them to a round surface? once the spray dries completly, it should hold its shape for good.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Pumadude584)Wed, 16 Jul 2008 12:35:15 +0000 Re: considering making a Hybrid Begins TDKhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2101893,from=rss#post2101893https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2101893,from=rss#post2101893You will need to plastidip the foamies before you glue them on, because if you plastidip them on the suit you could harden your undersuit and then it will crack when you move- making a mess. I'm not sure about warming the foamies but I'm sure some more experienced bros will chime in soon. Do you have any ideas drawn out on paper?nondisclosed_email@example.com (0THE BAT0)Wed, 16 Jul 2008 11:34:19 +0000 Foamies & Plasti Diphttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2101881,from=rss#post2101881https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2101881,from=rss#post2101881I am considering making a hybrid based on Begins and TDK. I will probably use foamies glued to an undersuit. My question is, do I plasti dip the foamies before gluing them on or can I plasti dip over the undersuit :huh Also if I heat up foamies, can I get a more rounded shape? (As an example, for the arms or groin area.) nondisclosed_email@example.com (ninjaq)Wed, 16 Jul 2008 11:04:57 +0000
