Myself, I have a rubies clooney cowl which has a large enough mouth opening to allow great airflow and decent hearing :) I just got back from a 2-day appearance request, and the cowl presented very few problems nondisclosed_email@example.com (batbrat)Sun, 24 Aug 2008 21:19:50 +0000 Re: Auditory Issues With Cowlhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2112229,from=rss#post2112229https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2112229,from=rss#post2112229 I too had this problem... my wife calls it selective hearing :lol  I bought an amplifier from Radio Shack.(Listen Up Personal Sound Amplifier) (Catalog #: 63-154)($14.99)  http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2906951&cp=&sr=1&origkw=hearing+amplifier&kw=hearing+amplifier&parentPage=search    I sprayed it a gold/bronze color and attached it with velcro to my utility belt. I then ran my earbuds from  my cowl down my back and then into the amplifier on my utility belt.  It was pretty easy and cheap to do and works very well. I never leave the cave without it :p      -Petenondisclosed_email@example.com (TheyCallMePete)Sun, 24 Aug 2008 21:13:38 +0000 Re: Auditory Issues With Cowlhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2112226,from=rss#post2112226https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2112226,from=rss#post2112226 :hijack On a side note, Mark... You can only ask them so many times what they said. I believe the hunting hearing aids help, and I have someone with me when I do a kid visit. She acts as my "Press Rep" and helps with the hearing stuff.nondisclosed_email@example.com (BelmontBat)Sun, 24 Aug 2008 17:03:15 +0000 Re: Auditory Issues With Cowlhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2112153,from=rss#post2112153https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2112153,from=rss#post2112153I've heard of people using some of those hearing aids that hunters use. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Jimithy909)Sun, 24 Aug 2008 15:06:01 +0000 Re: Auditory Issues With Cowlhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2112152,from=rss#post2112152https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2112152,from=rss#post2112152Get a looser cowl, airflow will allow acoustic transmission. It'll be directiona, i.e. "talk to my face!" but it'll help. The airtight seal most tighter cowls create around your ears and face is what kills your hearing ability. I am working on a simple radio-shack cowl-ear mic and mini-speaker right now... I'll be able to do more after I move next week! -Bnondisclosed_email@example.com (Hunterbat)Sun, 24 Aug 2008 14:55:40 +0000 Auditory Issues With Cowlhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2112128,from=rss#post2112128https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2112128,from=rss#post2112128Has anyone resolved this issue as we are half deaf in costume and everyone is SCREAMING in our ears to converse?
