Re: A NEW foamies Batman Begins, begins..(GAUNTLETS COMPLETED and SUITED UP!! 10/31 pg 7)
Morning everyone! First off, I’d like to thank EVERYONE for their kind words along my project. Each post was more than enough motivation into finishing the suit. Now that I sit here with it, completed, it’s almost sad to see a holiday so anticipated by all of us, be quickly gone in a matter of hours. Rest assured, part of my attire in the closest now lays a fully built (and later improved) Begins Suit. I now feel so honored to be finally amongst you all. From a thought years ago, to a plan so many of us recently found with Foamies, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart along this journey. As promised here are pictures that was taken a day after Halloween.
As far as mobility with the armor portion, I felt very limited around the arms as they were attached to the shoulder bells WITHOUT any give. Although they are accurate, a simple “Hi Five” was out of the question, witch makes fitment of the cowl more difficult. If I were to re do the suit again, I would DEFINATLY add elastic under the shoulder bells and attach that to armor for functionality. All in all the armor held up quite well for such and extreme amount of stress for what large drunken “Mardi Gras” style crowds can bring. (Don’t even get me started on the women. Haha)
As far as the leg armor was concerned, mobility wasn’t too limited. I can walk and run just fine. I did sit down while trying them on the second time and didn’t notice any tears from that. Please keep in mind that the leg armor was NOT Plasti dipped. I just sprayed with Design Masters Flat black. Any tears were nothing major or noticeable if even that. Bit of Loc Tite GEL will fix her right up.
The gauntlets were one of the positive things I liked about the suit. In a crowd setting, say a convention of some sort, 100+ people bumping into you can damage or even ruin your gauntlets. I’m sure some of you have had this problem. Fins breaking off, cracking, etc… . Because of the flexibility of foamies, no one gets hurt or stabbed from the fins, plus any kind of misshaping from bumping into people can be quickly fixed with a bit of heat from your heat gun. I may even plasti dip them and gloss them black for accurateness since the gauntlets were darker than the rest of the suit in the movie. In time I suppose….
Overall reaction to the suit was pretty speechless as I’m sure azspidey can vouch for. To see one of the best looking Ledger jokers walk along side an accurate Begins suit made out of foamies, one can only imagine the reaction. Honestly I would react the same way. :)
People are funny. Drunk people are even funnier. Most were even scared to ask for a picture as if we were Celebrities! People were even stunned when we would drop a line from the movie at them. It was even awkward at times. As if they had that sort of, “omgz I can’t BELIEVE so and so is talking to me”. Lol! Star stricken I suppose, I dunno…haha
All in all we both had a lot of fun showing off in our town, and even more fun during the building process…Much more to be had in time…
Till then cheers! :cheers

Re: A NEW foamies Batman Begins, begins..(SUIT FULLY COMPLETED!!!! with PICS pg 8)
I totally need to get some money under me and as soon as I do I AM BUYING A MANNEQUIN AND MAKING THIS SUIT! No one in their right mind would dream of calling it a foamies suit it's so much more spectacular!
What're your plans now? You gonna stick around and try your hand at other batsuits? Perhaps show us the progress on that Returns one you started? Or try your hand at the TDK?

Re: A NEW foamies Batman Begins, begins..(SUIT FULLY COMPLETED!!!! with PICS pg 8)
Thanks again to everyone for their kind words. To sum it up…
FlikMage:
Don’t really have any plans for another suit anytime soon, as I am EXHAUSTED from working so hard these past couple of months on both my suit and helping knowone251(Garrick) on his suit. Maybe by comic con of next year, I will again have plans to do a V.2 armor with more movable arms for that Bruce Wayne spelunker look. It will essentially be a V.2 armor with no bat emblem, more movable arms, and I’ll even make that harness he wears with it..maybe reuse the boots, leg armor, and gauntlets…red swingline stapler, I dunno…all thoughts for the future…
I ‘m gonna swing by Garricks later in the week to drop off EVERY picture I took during the process of his returns suit, so I’ll go ahead and have him explain the building process of his armor. VERY easy. It took us about 5 hours to do in one night between the both of us. No templates, just pics from the BOTB site…
Larry1978:
Thanks again man, and as were many people. It may have been a foamies suit, but it was the best batman they had ever seen all night, or ever..haha….
Elusivesolution:
Not sure about the cost, i know the foamies were CHEEAAP but it was the glue in the end that ended up costing more since I used so many of those loc tite superglue GELS. Definitely no where NEAR the cost of any begins armor that anyone would sell I’ll give ya that! I know I already had the boots, the rubies converted belt was something like 20 bucks..everything else was like a buck a sheet for the 3mm Foamies and 4 bucks for the big 2mm 8ft roll and I ended up using two of those rolls. Heck i even made some money back when i sold my Rubies Converted Cowl. All that went tword the trade of my J**** cowl. Love it.
Indakin:
Thanks again bro, I’ve seen the progress pics of your Bob D stuff and it looks amazing! Not a bad looking joker either I may add. I figured since your going to kill it at comic con with your gear, I may just try my hand at a V.2 foamies suit for that Bruce Wayne spelunker look. No cape, no cowl, no emblem. Just comfort in a black ski mask. Haha. MAYBE even paint the foamies that cool Kevlar armor look..plans for the future I suppose….
