As you haven't started you sculpt yet, here's a tip. As it's your first sculpt give Chavant a miss and go for the oil based clay Tiranti stock called Newplast. I've used this clay for years and have never had any silicone cure inhibition problems with it. As you're sculpting a cowl, use the black newplast. This will help match the photos you'll use of the screen cowl. Using another colour can be deceptive to the eye, which is why some guys spray their sculpt black. The trouble with that is if you want to make any changes you have to strip the paint first. Then step away from the tiranti website! They're good, but you can get the materials cheaper elsewhere. Mouldlife are great as are SWI Plasters and Bentley Chemicals stock a full range of Smooth-on products. I recommend Smooth-on for urethane, their products (Vytaflex) are available in a range of shore hardnesses, 30 and 40 work best for cowls. Call up bentley and ask for some cured samples as a guide. For silicone I use Respil E30 from SWIP, it's a tin cure silicone and is very forgiving. South Western also stock latex. If you plan to dwell the latex (my preferred method as it gives a uniform thickness) you'll need enough to fill the entire mould, I'll let you do that little calculation :wink nondisclosed_email@example.com (pjwares)Wed, 03 Dec 2008 09:28:24 +0000 Latex/urethane quantities to make a pull of a cowl.https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2132020,from=rss#post2132020https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2132020,from=rss#post2132020Well, pretty much what the title says. Can anyone give me an idea of how much one pull uses? I'm going to be ordering all the supplies for starting my 89 sculpt in a couple of weeks (cant wait!) or possibly just after Christmas and I don't wanna order too little. If anyone knows how much it takes by weight as opposed to liquid volume Id appreciate it as that's how its sold at Tiranti and I haven't totally decided what the end product will be but I plan on using JBrowns437's tutorial so I need both anyway. I know everyone is busy at the moment with the holidays but if anyone could help me out Id really appreciate it as I can't wait to start sculpting the good ole 89 cowl :up Happy Holidays people!
