Shadow, definitely looking forward to seeing what you do with that!
Sorry, Bart, but you can still take comfort from the fact you got the first blue cowl I ever made!

Re: Bat Texan Jim Lee Cowl---IN BLUE PG5
Say Tom, how does the latex version compare in size to your original sculpt?
Id like to be able to make a latex version of mine but I really dont wanna make it any bigger than it is right now.
Thats probably what Im most nervous about.
Have you experienced different amounts of shrinkage or have they all come out about the same?

Re: Bat Texan Jim Lee Cowl---IN BLUE PG5
The original sculpt measured 26" around at the brow, the latex cowls have all been about 24". If I remember right, my V2 cowl sculpt was almost 28" around, and all of those latex cowls came in around 26". There are always minor variations---the viscosity of your liquid latex, how many coats you do, if you brush a bunch of coats in first, etc. I try to do each cowl the same, so I get nearly the same results every time.
Assuming your armature is about the same size as your head, I think as long as your clay is about 1/2" thick all around, you should be fine. The first time is a little nerve-wracking in that department---at some point you just have to bite the bullet and go for it!

Re: Bat Texan Jim Lee Cowl---IN BLUE PG5
Thanks man! My armature is a little bigger than me but not enough to make a huge difference.
Like you said, Ill just have to go for it.
Thanks Tom :cheers

This is definitely the coolest cowl I've seen so far. Then again I'm partial to Jim Lee and everything to do with Hush

Re: Bat Texan Jim Lee Cowl---IN BLUE PG5
Bigger version? What bigger version? :nahnah
Oh yeah, I was supposed to do a big-head version of this cowl, wasn't I? Actually, it's in the early stages. I just haven't had as much time to work on it, as I'm in the process of moving.
Soon, I hope, soon . . .
