In-Cowl Radio Communication suggestions.
Okay, I've seen the threads about cowl gear, but I have a specific question. I need a voice activated mic in my cowl, connected to some kind of radio, as hands-free as possible. If I kept the radio on my belt, what kind of equipment do I need for this project? I've put some though into those throat mics, but maybe that's not the answer. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Cowl Radio Communications
Do you mean so you can hear people better ?
This is something I would also like to do, there was a thread in the archives which may be what you saw. It stopped just as it was getting interesting lol
Zane may be the guy to talk to about that as his suits are pretty pimped out although Im not sure if he ever really built this into them.
If anyone has info or has done it, Id love to see it too :)

Re: Cowl Radio Communications
Oh, no, actually I meant a 2-way radio, or a walkie talkie, for communicating with other people. But I am wondering about the hearing thing, too :wink

Re: Cowl Radio Communications
Go check out the 501st--those dudes have hoppedup their stormtrooper helmets with EXACTLY what you are looking for. They use those motorcycle headsets and transmitters...

Re: Cowl Radio Communications
A good cellphone on your belt and a decent bluetooth. You tap the side of the cowl to answer calls, or to activate your bluetooth calling which is voice activated if you have a decent phone.
Works great and in most cases is 100% better than walkie-talkie or other radio signal reception.
The ones with the "behind the ear" design usually fit better such as the Plantronics Voyager 510, which lays pretty flat to your face and stays nicely under your cowl without aggrivation. The cost is usually around $50
Why re-invent the wheel?:up

Yes, i like it too, the only problem is that the other players won't take their cell phones on the field, unfortunately for me, so I need to find an alternative. I love the idea, though.
