Re: Neon's First Cowl Sculpt: Critiques Wanted! (Pg.2 Updates)
Quick question: what's the recommended circumference for a cowl that'll fit most wearers?

Don't know how I missed this---that's a really cool sculpt, especially if it's your first!
As far as the size goes, if you intend to wear it, make it so it'll fit you! Average falls into the 22"-23" range I think (I'm a 'big-head' at 24"). Of course, a larger cowl can be padded out to fit a smaller head, but ultimately it's your call. Just don't forget that latex shrinks, so sculpt it bigger than your final size!

Me vs the world. I like the chin piece. I agree on the armor comment but, I love the look just the same. Same as the rest with the ears though. Great job bro.

Re: Neon's First Cowl Sculpt: Critiques Wanted! (Pg.2 Updates)
that's pretty slick man. I'm not sure if I'm feeling the ears, but they grow on me the more I look at them. I like the idea of them actually looking like bat ears. Maybe if you thinned them out a bit it would look better though? or maybe made them a little longer? I dunno. I love the batlike ear nubs on the side, and the "fangs", though I think maybe those could be even more exaggerated, along with the cheeks being more angular, to give it a more beast like look. I really like the concept of batman as a terrifying monster though.
And the brow is completely awesome, has a real menace that some cowls lack, and I think is essential.
And I'm a fan of the chin, I say keep it.
All in all, I just really like the extreme angles on parts of the cowl, the whole exaggerated look of them, and think it'd be even more awesome if you exaggerated the other parts to match.

Re: Neon's First Cowl Sculpt: Critiques Wanted! (Pg.2 Updates)
Thanks for the comments, guys!
Also, a piece of advice to anyone new to sculpting cowls: if the people here say to do something seemingly simple (like raising the base of the sculpt by a couple of inches) do it!
I raised it up by about an inch on the front and by two inches on the back, completely shifting the angle of the head, which was sculpted like he was gazing up. It brought to light a whole bunch of problems I couldn't quite get a hold of before.
I've begun shaving down and bulking up the neck, and adjusted the ears as well. I'll snap some more pics when he's presentable, but I simply have to say that the piece has gone up to a whole new level thanks to this one little tweak.
Thank you!

Okay, some new pics! Again, Batman's left (your right) is unfinished and more or less is just serving as a place for me to experiment.
What do you guys think of it so far?

Re: Neon's First Cowl Sculpt: Critiques Wanted! (Update on Page 3!)
damn! this thing keeps getting better and better! I'm loving it.
I like the accentuated fang on the left, that mouth area is sweet. Think you're def onto something on your experimentation half.
And the ears look a lot better man, good work. :up

you know what this would look awesome with? One of those horned capes you see sometimes in the comics. That'd be epic

I'm seeing one of the "Gotham Knight" cowls in some of the design. Nice.
