Removing a Silicone Mold from a Sculpt:
So I've got my sculpt under the 2nd layer of silicone. Next two layers are going to have the thickener added to them. My question is, after I've made the plasti-paste mother mold, how do I go about removing the sculpt from the silicone mold? I'm affraid I won't be able to do this without cutting a seam line into the back of the silicone. Or is that needed typically? Thanks!

From what I know, unless you use something like Dragon Skin for the mold you typically need to cut it up the back.
It should sit together fine again in the mold jacket.
Hopefully someone with more experience will jump in here.

Re: Removing a Silicone Mold from a Sculpt:
What I typically do is I lay up 2 unthickend detail coat layers and 4 thickend layers( 6 layers total) , once I'm ready to demold I carefully remove the silicone off the sculpt by slowly rolling it off ...sort of like taking a rubber glove off your hand...the silicone will be thick enough that it will not tear ...the mold max has awesome tear strength

Thanks Shawn! I only have enough silicone to do 4 layers unfortunately. I'm using Rebound-25 if that makes any difference. I added a seam line just in case.

Yeah when I made my Begins mold I just peeled it off.
Personally I do not like plastipaste. For my 89 I am going with a different jacket material.

When you say "peel off", do you almost turn the silicone inside out? I've heard negative things about plasti-paste before too. I'll see how it goes this time. :confused
Thanks again guys. I got all 4 layers onto the sculpt...Going to apply the 2 halves of plasti-paste tomorrow.
