Tim Sale Cowl: First Pull!

Long story short, it's thin...and thick in the wrong places. The top of the head had a lot of urethane pooled in it, so it's preventing it from looking right on my head and makes the neck look reaaallly short... I'll be correcting that for the next one. The ears are solid urethane here, nothing but rubber. They need to be filled with foam or resin to really hold their shape properly. All part of learning, lol.

Here's some pics, sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. I'll get some better shots later.

Thanks man! I'm gonna make another one asap. This one has a LOT of urethane pooled at the top of the head, and the mask just doesn't fit right at all, but it should once the urethane is run correctly. It also makes the ears point outwards slightly, which won't happen when this is corrected. I like that I don't really need eye black to wear it though!

Sales design seems to be one that would be difficult to pull off in "real world", but you look to have done a great job of doing it. :up

Let me say again....:)
That is a great pic! I think you've done something pretty unique with it's own bad ass nature and quality to it. That pic right there says it all...THAT is Batman!

You'll get better at running urethane...you'll start to understand why sculptures have clay in certain thicknesses and so on...all those things are part of the hobby, party of evolving and part of having fun.
Vision on the other hand you dont teach and this cowl shows plenty of it....I love the look you went for and think that even this casting... bent horns and all has a hell of a lot of character to it and evokes that 'terror' aspect of Batman really really well.

Very nice man...way to stand out and do your own thing.

Very Very well done.

David

WOW! great job on this my man! :up

urethane is a tricky thing to run but once you do it over and over again you'll totally get the hang of it for sure.

so...whacha gonna sculpt next? :p
