They'll see Batman, the only difference possibly being if you're dressed as an Adam West bat, since that's a completely different personality. The majority won't even be able to nitpick what movie you're from as long as you're wearing rubber, even if your costume is 100% accurate to 89, they might think you're from Batman & Robin. But there's a good chance it won't even cross their mind. What gets ME is when you're wearing a comic suit (grey spandex) and someone notes on how accurate you are to a movie costume. :cookoo Otherwise, only movie fanatics and guys like us will be able to tell the difference, and even then it's not like we'll attack eachother for being inaccurate. Hell, my costume isn't accurate to anything, really. I just went with what I liked from the comics, I even use Begins gauntlets because I haven't made myself a different set for the comic look.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Rohun)Fri, 30 Oct 2009 15:28:30 +0000 Re: Discuss: Batman public awarenesshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184566,from=rss#post2184566https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184566,from=rss#post2184566I have done many events this last year with a couple different batmans. With Togon64, batbrat, tk1055, and zero270. They all had great batsuits. Togon has a comicsuit, tim a hybrid made of different parts from 89 92 rubies or custom, tk1055 has Comic suit with a muscle suit under it, and then zero has a begins As far as i can tell the public loved each suit. The only thing i really noticed out of all the suits. Only 2 suits really stuck out. Zero270 begins people were drueling over and erics Comic. So what it comes down to is any bat suit works. Being insanely accurate makes you loved. Side note Batmans physic is on trial in the publics eye. If you want to do batman and your over wieght no big deal just make sure you carry it well or conceal it well. We had a couple of comments when tk1055 was doing one of his bats that really is affending, but sadly true. So when he wanted to do a comic batsuit i said go for the muscle suit. lol i think mine was from this board but a million sittups later i feel like a new man lol. And there is a few other comments but i dont feel like talking about batbrat it will end badly so yeah thats about it.nondisclosed_email@example.com (JokersMainSqueeze)Fri, 30 Oct 2009 06:05:45 +0000 Re: Discuss: Batman public awarenesshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184334,from=rss#post2184334https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184334,from=rss#post2184334I ran into Indakin at NYcon last year in my Original Begins. It is basically a Begins but the body armor is completely different. We all know Bryan is definitely into screen accuracy. Hell, I give the screen accurate guys props for it! When we touched base again last month I reminded him of our in person meeting at NYcon and he mentioned my suit as being "different, not accurate" but interesting and different. I like that kind of camaraderie and its level of dedication to the hobby. I mean I know it's not screen accurate, but he just HAD to mention it because it is important to him. Totally cool. And props to the custom bro's for being original and inventive. Long live the hybrids!nondisclosed_email@example.com (abiwankenobi)Wed, 28 Oct 2009 21:48:52 +0000 Re: Discuss: Batman public awarenesshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184308,from=rss#post2184308https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184308,from=rss#post2184308Yeah, a few years ago, I'm doing a charity appearance in my Panther hybrid suit, and some guy comes up to me telling me that I was great in Multiplicity and wants my autograph. See, he only saw a "movie" Batman, and to him that's Michael Keaton. Forget the fact that I'm wearing a suit that most closely resembles the one Kilmer wore and my belt is a Begins belt. I'm not that into screen accuracy and the whole "geek" thing. I just want a suit that looks good and embodies all my favorite parts of the suits that I like. If I were to ever do a screen accurate suit, it would be the '89. Even then, I'd prefer to see a Returns emblem on that suit. I love the Panther suit, but any one I do will NEVER be screen accurate, as I HATE the nipples. When a little kid about 6 or 7 years old came up to me with wide eyes and said "I watch you on TV all the time," that suit was screen accurate enough for me!nondisclosed_email@example.com (KnightStix)Wed, 28 Oct 2009 19:06:30 +0000 Re: Discuss: Batman public awarenesshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184291,from=rss#post2184291https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184291,from=rss#post2184291I personally like the mix and match and have done that so far. I have always gotten positive response with the exception of a few people who do not appove of skiing/snowboarding as Batman. My batmodile will not the typical either but hopefully cool of I can get the paint right.nondisclosed_email@example.com (kdog23)Wed, 28 Oct 2009 17:08:27 +0000 Re: Discuss: Batman public awarenesshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184273,from=rss#post2184273https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184273,from=rss#post2184273There was a bro a couple years back, who had a cape and cowl, and belt. but didnt have the rest of his suit yet. so he went out in that, black pants, and a black Begins shirt. and people responded like he was in the full suit. If you resemble the character, people will see Batman. the only people that truly care about the suit being 100% are guys like us. nondisclosed_email@example.com (TheBat 25)Wed, 28 Oct 2009 15:58:41 +0000 Re: Discuss: Batman public awarenesshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184264,from=rss#post2184264https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184264,from=rss#post2184264Quote:AlienFilms wrote: As long as the suit looks good, the regular Joe out there will always just see Batman Good to know. Collectors and costumers. The only comments I got about my suit were compliments. mostly regarding: - I did a comic-style vs a movie suit - my suit was put together by me (gloves/gaunts, emblem, belt buckle - made by me + cape, cowl, belt made by brothers) and looked way better than any of the store bought hero costumesnondisclosed_email@example.com (Darius Alucard)Wed, 28 Oct 2009 15:27:24 +0000 Re: Discuss: Batman public awarenesshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184252,from=rss#post2184252https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184252,from=rss#post2184252As long as the suit looks good, the regular Joe out there will always just see Batmannondisclosed_email@example.com (AlienFilms)Wed, 28 Oct 2009 12:56:18 +0000 Re: Discuss: Batman public awarenesshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184246,from=rss#post2184246https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184246,from=rss#post2184246I really don't personally know anyone that geeky. Also, since I am costuming "comic-style" it doesn't really matter what combination I do because Batman's appearance changes all the time. Currently, my suit consists of a custom-appearance cowl, tights, an 89 style cape and belt and Gotham 100 boots. I know, though, that as soon as I step out in public for the first time on Friday night, people won't see the pieces, they'll see Batman.nondisclosed_email@example.com (aceofknaves88)Wed, 28 Oct 2009 11:53:48 +0000 Re: Discuss: Batman public awarenesshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184244,from=rss#post2184244https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184244,from=rss#post2184244I personally like it when people try different combonations of gear to create their own look. Not trying to undermine anyones efforts at screen accurate costumes. They are glorious in their own right. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Ronjer)Wed, 28 Oct 2009 11:41:38 +0000 Re: Discuss: Batman public awarenesshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184236,from=rss#post2184236https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184236,from=rss#post2184236Im pretty sure they dont care if the suit your wearing is two suit put into one. Some of the up-tights freak out if the little lights on Vader's chest piece don't blink in the exact order that they suppossedly do in the movies. Hey,as long as your not wearing an Adam West cowl with a DK suit, it's all good!I guess that I like to pick and choose. For example, my favorite cowl is the Returns, style, butI prefere the 89 suit (or a nipple-less panther). Long live the "hybrids"!nondisclosed_email@example.com (Mr Bravo)Wed, 28 Oct 2009 10:39:28 +0000 Discuss: Batman public awarenesshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184233,from=rss#post2184233https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2184233,from=rss#post2184233It's a pretty safe bet that if you walk out in public dressed in a Begins, TDK, or Adam West suit, people will recognize the specific suit. A lot would probably recognize an '89 suit. But beyond that.... To a greater or lesser extent, there's an inner geek in each of us that we build our suits for. We make sure we get a Neal Adams cowl, or Panther boots, or a Dead End belt. Especially for those who do a lot of public appearances, where do you draw the line between geekology and simply presenting yourself in a professional-looking outfit, be it comic-style or movie-based? I'm moving more into that realm, and I wonder how much "geek" does the public expect? For example, I just recently learned that Darth Vader had slightly different costumes in each Star Wars movie. If I was anal like Comic Book Guy on the Simpsons, I'd rip somebody a new one for wearing ROTJ gloves with an ESB suit. But if I'm Joe Public, all I see is a guy who looks like he just walked off the screen. Does anybody but us notice--or care--that you've got Panther gloves and a Jim Lee cowl? Your thoughts, please. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Lrcrow)Wed, 28 Oct 2009 10:29:09 +0000
