1:1 Heath/Joker bust completed
Friday was the 2 year anniversary of Heath Ledger's death and I meant to post these then, but forgot.
Anyway, after 4 major re-sculpts,and a thousand subtle changes, this is about as good as I'm gonna get it. I learned a lot about a lot on many levels sculpting and re-sculpting it,and after looking at it for so long,I still have no idea if it even looks like him.
Regardless,it's gonna look exactly like him finished and painted. Of that,I feel very confident.
Either way,the features are in the right spots, the proportions are correct and I'm happy with the details of the skin, hair, clothing, etc.,so based on that I feel the next ones that follow should go faster, but that remains to be seen.
So for my first real, completed 1:1 bust,I'm happy.
Some shots are with a flash and some not,but I'll just post all of them.
I'm not changing it anymore, but comments and criticisms are welcome nonetheless,so the next one goes better.
For your viewing pleasure...

Excellent John, will you also offer a bold version? A silicone Head Version with real Hairs would be interesting. This bust is the best example for combining a portrait of Heath Ledger, and of his famous role as the joker without putting to much importance of making him looking like a maniac. I really like it very much.(I also love the version made by Bobby Causey, but yours is more a homage to Heath then to the Joker.

Re: 1:1 Heath/Joker bust completed
Thanks guys. :)
Red,I've been considering a silicone version and actually sculpted him for that purpose at first.
I have a layer of aluminum foil between his hair and head, and between his body and clothes so I can just peel those away, clean it up and refine it.
Problem is,I know absolutely nothing about fiberglass molds. Zero. Nada. Zilch.
I wouldn't even know where to begin, what materials to get,or even how to go about it.
I'm talking 100% clueless.
But,I do have the materials to mold him and cast him as a full bust in resin for now, then I'll proceed from there and see what happens.

Oh,thank you for that and I'm glad you noticed. :wink
I specifically stayed away from doing a very pronounced brow and deeper cut expression lines. I think most of what you see in these areas is due to how the makeup was applied,so it gives the impression of a heavily expressive face even when he's relaxed.
I'll be molding him this week sometime in between doing another higher priority project,so hopefully I'll have a finished/painted casting within the next 2 weeks or so,then we'll really see what he looks like.

You've been locked in a room with The Joker for months. No wonder you've been a little mental lately. I almost asked you why so serious? several times. Pre-Mold-Stress.
Superb sculpt. Yes it's Ledger but you have caught a scary Joker vibe with that look, even more so because it's unpainted. It's going to rock with some colour on.
Why So Serious indeed.

Thanks TJ. Coming from a Joker affectionado, that means a lot. :wink
lolo1,there's about a million skin pores, and the texture is very realistic,at least compared to my own face/skin.
I used myself as guide for these details,as well as facial proportions/measurements. Everything fell within a 1/6" compared to my own facial/head measurements.
Aside from some clay snots and some additional blending needed here and there, the hair is actually really smooth and up close very stringy. It was almost impossible to get decent shots and I had a hard time getting really good closeups.
New camera that's very capable of it,but I'm still getting used to it and I have to figure out the settings/lighting.
None of it is shiny, which is what bugs me about the pictures. His face is completely matte, and the fabrics each have a different texture and are even flatter, but it's just not translating well in photos.
