Batman: Under the Red Hood (as reported in www.animatedsuperheroes.com)
WHV has officially announced the next DC Universe Animated Original Movie: Batman: Under the Red Hood!
Written by Judd Winick and based on his 2005 Batman comics story line, it's Batman versus another vigilante, Red Hood, who doesn't mind cleaning up Gotham by leaving dead bodies in his wake. Animated guru Bruce Timm exec produces this pretty violent look into crime on the streets, and it's directed by "Superman Doomsday" co-director Brandon Vietti, with a cavalcade of stars as voice talent. It all starts with Bruce Greenwood ("Star Trek") as Batman, then continues with "Supernatural" star Jensen Ackles as Red Hood, Neil Patrick Harris ("How I Met Your Mother") as Nightwing, John DiMaggio ("Futurama") as the Joker and Jason Isaacs (the Harry Potter films) as Ra's Al Ghul.
A "first look" featurette will be included on the Justice League: Crisis Between Two Earths DVD and Blu-ray which will be released on February 23.
Re: Batman: Under the Red Hood Wow. First of all, for those of us who know who the Red Hood is... this makes no sense. That character has not been shown in the DCAU at all. So... either they are going to not make it who we all know it is, or... they're just going to pull him out and alot of people are going to be like "Who is that? I've never heard of him..."
And last but not least... Bruce Greenwood as Batman? I mean, I love the actor and all, but can we stop trying to fill Kevin Conroy's shoes with other actors and just let the man who does the best Batman voice...play Batman?
Re: Batman: Under the Red Hood Either way, I think it's good to see some stuff coming out. Now what's this Justice League thing coming out on the 23rd?
Re: Batman: Under the Red Hood Yeah, but all these movies are NOT set in the old DCAU, they're all in their own stand alone continuities. Doesn't matter if we never saw that character in BTAs, this has nothing to do with that universe.
And if they're not set in the DCAU I don't really WANT them to have those voices. They are different versions of the characters.
Bruce Greenwood is great casting for Batman. He's got a great voice. Jason Isaacs could be a great Ra's in live-action too.
Re: Batman: Under the Red Hood For anyone not expecting much of this, read the mini series. It's a pretty good story. The Redhood won't be who it "normally" is because this story isn't about him.
I'll admit, I agree that it lost the magic when they revealed who it was but it's still worth reading. Nice art style.
