Man I wish I had the resources to do this. But on the plus side once my wife and I get a little farther in life she said we can have a house built with the whole hide-away basement behind a bookshelf. Batcave, mancave, whatever you wanna call it.

I wanna see how the rock walls turn out. I am also curious if you're going to add a hard shell over the foam?

The walls are taking awhile as I have to cut and form them myself. I'm as eager as you are to see how they turn out. I've never done this before. I am coating the foam in the Stonewall product from this site. I got a sample kit from them and this product best fits the texture I'm looking for.

All of the foam is now in place and I've begun roughing in the rock forms. I've decided that to carve it will take awhile :) But I have a secret weapon...I'll post more progress as this moves along.

So are you planning on painting after you add the coating or are you planning on the sculpting giving it all the shading and visual effect your looking for?

I bought a foam cutter a few years ago from a craft store. It was just a wire that was connected to batteries so it would heat up. It cut through the foam like a hot-knife-through-butter emoticon I think it was $6

Haven't updated in awhile, so I thought I would post a recent pic. The panels are all sculpted and coated. I have added the base gray paint. Will begin shading and layering soon.

Sometimes I love finding threads a few pages deep that I haven't seen before. I just got to experience so much homemade batcave awesomeness at once. It's like waiting until a show is done and watching all the seasons together.
That looks amazing. Great work buddy. Happy for ya!

I missed that last pic myself. It's looking very "cave-ish".
More more!
