Re: functional 89 belt buckle

Actually yes, I was getting a "flawed" one from him and felt bad for all the trouble he went to so I sent him some extra and he wound up sending me 2, one "flawed" yellow (which is difficult to find the flaw) and one gold. I take them out from time to time but for the most part they're still in the box they came in. I haven't gotten around to making straps for them yet. (not even sure if I could perfectly match the color(s)).
Mine latch pretty well but I know being that they are cast the latch mechanism is prone to early failure. I tried to fix one for Zane but had only limited success. Externally they rock but the guts aren't as well designed. Then again it's not like Henry is an Engineer or anything. All in all it was a good prop, just not terribly durable for extended wear. (Zane was trying to sit and drive with his on and it just couldn'ttake the extra strain of that). He may also have had very early pieces before some details were finalized.

As for Henry making more, I doubt that will happen (unfortunately). I hate to say it but I think we've seen the last of him (at least in the short term). Last I knew he had lost the passion for this stuff. This 89 buckle project hit him pretty hard. I think he lost even his masters and a ton of investment capital on the project.

Didn't he post the designs here? I'm sure there are some other brothers with mechanical talent to take this on. any takers?

Henry is seriously missed, such an honourable man with perfection as his goal. As many may recall he used to sell to brothers here at a very reasonable rate, he was never trying to make money from his brothers- I still am in touch with him via FB.
I am also one of the lucky ones who has a couple of these babys, as well as 2 of his 89 figures, a working panthe buckle and a working forever rang in chrome!
Come back Henry please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm one of the lucky ones that got one of his Gold 89 buckles that he gave away in a contest. Batbrat got the other. I'm also the proud owner of one of his Panther buckles. It'll take a lot to pry either of them from my hands!

Yeah, Henry is the man! I really felt badly for him with what happened on that buckle project. He certainly didn't deserve that. I also would like to see him come back around here whether he's making stuff or not. He's just an all around great guy.

My HW collection consists of his:
3 piece '89 chest emblem
12" '89 figure
12" Returns figure
Chromed metal Sonar rang
Functional metal Panther buckle (black version)
Functional metal '89 buckle (yellow version)
Functional metal '89 buckle (gold version)
Metal '89 Utility belt capsules (yellow version)
B&R Bat Heater with flashing LED's (silver version)
B&R Bat Heater with flashing LED's (gold version)

They are my favorites of all of my Batman props and it would take a seriously severe circumstance to make me part with any of them.

I don't know how many he made or if he ever made it public knowledge, but he sent me one as an extra gift (he always would do stuff like that) when I got my '89 figure from him. I believe that he cut the 3 pieces, the yellow field, the bat, and the black ring, from colored sheets of plastic rather than casting them in resin. However he did it, this thing is clean and precise! Fits together perfectly with no gaps. It may have been done on a CNC mill - I don't know, as Henry never told me anymore about it.
