Come to think of it, that speargun looks like either one from SD Studios, or a recast of one... I've never seen pics of an original that has a trigger button.

Why do you say that the screen-used studs were black? I'm admittedly new at this, but all the reference photos and screencaps I've seen show the studs were silver. That part of the glove seemed to have been unmodified from the original motorcycle gloves.

I'm not arguing one way or the other about the gloves on that display, just wondering about stud color (I'm about to add studs to my gloves)

O.K. guys I don´t know if the WB propstore made the studs black on some of the screen used gloves but on the original Fieldsheer gloves which were the main base gloves for the 89 gloves the studs original were chromed and not black and that´s a fact as I owned a pair about 3 years ago.

Hmm, looks like at least one pair had studs painted- it was used in the batarang scene at the beginning. So we're both right, haha.

You can see the paint is scraping off, though. Maybe they couldn't get the paint to stay and decided to leave the silver?

Mine are black. But because I painted them that way. lol.
Honestly, regardless of what the real deal gloves look like in person with silver studs, painting them black actually makes them look way more screen accurate in photos than the silver ones. There's only one shot in the film I found where the studs looked silver (not pictured here), and that's when Batman stuck his arm out and activated that ram device from the palm area.

In non of screen caps I have, do I see bright silver studs. Im willing to believe the studio did paint some of them just to hide the bright silver.

I have taken photos in the dim light with no flash where the palm studs stood out very brightly, regardless. Even with just a little light, they stand out. When I painted them over with a gloss finish, they really resembled every scene I saw in the film and weren't eye sores.

It just a preferred cosmetics modification. :up

As far as that suit goes, Im no expert myself, but I believe the cowl and chest parts are definitely that of either screen used or production copies.
The legs looks to be a patchwork. The cape looks like its got plenty or ware and yellowed, but the ribs look a little different. But it could be an actual production copy as well.

Michael Jackson actually owned a screen worn suit as well which was placed on a mechanical moving mannequin display with his own face cast in it instead of Keaton. On his suit, he did have the right belt with the perfect gold paint job, emblem etc.
But the gloves weren't the actual ones used on screen (unless they were just stunt gloves who knows with movies..Ive learned enough to know studios sometimes create the craziest things just to create illusions of something, using simple pieces.)

Regardless of whatever, this is still and amazing display! i LOVE it. :)

Here's another shot. In this shot, the palm doesnt even look suade. Im betting they used several variants of the glove throughout the film.
I do believe the studs were painted with a translucent black paint to make them darker (in the other pictures). Image

In this shot, they definitely look silver.

It's still my belief they used a few pairs of a variety of sorts. I painted my metal studs black and I actually like them like that. A nice shiny metallic black can bring the best of both worlds under any lighting.

Well.. if youre fixated on accuracy. lol.
Sometimes I go bananas over it but in honesty, its really not that big of a deal. The metal studs, that is. :wink
