Re: Belt Capsules
I really can't remember what I originally thought of :lol
BUT: I've found two options, one wayyyy cheaper than the other.
The ones I used for my latest Tim Drake Robin are the Poster Paint Sharpie caps. These are a nice size, and require minimum modifications. I didn't even remove the clips, I left them on so I could slide them on and off the belt.
The other option I've found is the Fisher Space Pen's. They sell them in a bronze color, and you can unscrew the inner pen assembly so it's just the outer shell. These would allow them to be "functional" ie:open, but they wouldn't be storing much.
The downside is they're $17 a piece.
Although: That IS cheaper than I *think* when Lewis (LrCrow) removed the capsules off of the DCDirect Display belt.
Good luck bro, hope some of this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions :up

Yep, that was me. I picked up one on ebay for about $100. The seller had actually been wearing it, so the vinyl belt had begun to show wear & tear. Even mounted on a sturdier belt, those capsules were HEAVY.

Re: Belt Capsules
I'm thinking for your idea on the spring loaded capsules Lrcrow, that I could just add a spring with a metal plate to the bottom. It'd be cool. Just not sure what I'd be able to use it for. Any ideas? Eden's here! lol

Re: Belt Capsules
Well, that's the thing. A spring mechanism inside the tube would by nature block your "smoke pellet" (or whatever) from getting out.
I was disappointed in the DC belt capsules, to be honest. Although they are hinged, they don't open very far, and because of that I couldn't get anything useful inside them.

Re: Belt Capsules
That is true. Hmmm. I have a toothbrush case here at my house that I'll take a look at. And since I'm going for functionality, I'm probably going to make some smoke bombs. Not difficult to do. Ping pong balls, salt peter. Just for the effect. It'd look pretty darn cool. Only problem is you have to light them. So I'm trying to think of a non outside ignition source. Kind of like a glow stick in a way. Lol, too many ideas running around in my head

Yeah, look around the archives. There are some good ones out there, but I can't remember who off the top of my head. Maybe Tuth(sp?).
Yeah, It was me.
I just confirmed I can get more of those metal cylinders from my original source.
I posted a new thread in the Trading Area.

Re: Belt Capsules
I just lost an auction for a heavily used DC Direct belt on eBay, so I am glad to hear I didn't miss much.
I just ordered some bison tubes of various sizes to see what I can cobble together, though they look waaay bland.
Has anyone ever tried this place? http://www.cosmeticspack.com/metal_lipstick_containers_04.html
I'm thinking about putting together an AA-sized belt and was thinking that something like this might not be too huge:

Available in bulk here for a good price:
