I agree about stealth being more important to Batman's M.O. than full armour, but think a minimum of protection is essential too. A police style concealable vest seems to be a good compromise to me.

From a functional, practical point of view, seems like a good idea. From an imitating batman point of view, not so much. In pretty much all incarnations his pants are worn tight with no pockets, or maybe hidden pockets.
