Re: TDK W.I.P

Im not 100% sure Clinton but I think it is from the same molds, I could be wrong though. When I first recieved the armor with all the flash on it, it looked bigger then it does in the photo's, only slightly though. I've heard latex can shrink a little over time anyway. But since being plasti dipped its fine.

It'll do most of it's shrinking in the molds if it is a stone mold. If t is not it wont shrink much at all since it will dry far slower. How thick are the pieces, I would think it would be a stone mold since it would take 10X as long to run latex out of a silicone or glass mold.

That's alright Clint, its always great to get a bit of technical knowledge going :rollin.

Minor update: Just acquired one of Kev/inkmonkey's screen accurate capes in a trade and started work on the gloves. Pics when both are finished!

Re: TDK W.I.P

Alrighty, been working hard this week on the suit as I need it done for a party by tommorrow night. Got the undersuit in last thursday (cheers Brad) and finished up work on my gloves. Started the gluing process on monday night and as of now I have the legs, and whole top half glued and assembled as wel as the neck. Had gauntlets ready but after wearing them I know I can do better. So the mission is tonight is to:

1. Fix the gauntlets.
2. Attach cord to bottom of cod piece and loop to belt.
3. Make cape attachment for my cape.
4. Remove chalk makes from legs as well as glue spots (any suggestions welcome?).
5. Clean up back of my cowl.

And if I have time work on attaching the spine parts to the suit and modifying my gotham 100's.

Progress pictures to come, just need time to get on my computer lol

Ben

Re: TDK W.I.P (SUIT FINISHED!!)

Alrighty, Photo's up!

This is when i got the undersuit and knuckles in last Thursday (Cheers Brad, it's perfect)

Image[/img]

On the same day i modified my Scorpion Gloves and fitted the new knuckles, they worked out great!

Image[/img]

Then after a weekend away i came home Monday night to start on the gluing, jumped in the undersuit and with my brothers help glued the knee's, cod and calves. Which after viewing Spidey4fun's thread, worked great as reference points!

Now Tuesday night i filled up the undersuit legs with paper to fill them out and hung the suit up for gluing. Because i'm a tall bloke (6'5) i tried to space the armor on the legs a bit further apart. Unfortunately it didn't work out too great...

Image[/img]
Image[/img]

It was way too spaced apart for my liking so when i got home Wednesday night i decided to rip all the parts off and re-glue, this time chalking all the parts to get the proper spacing. I think it worked alot better...

Image[/img]

With that worked out i went on to glue the other leg, it's a real pain to try and get it exactly close to the other leg but i got fairly close

Now Thursday night i started on the top half, didn't take too long cause i threw the suit on my mannequin. Maybe an hour, tops. Bare in mind iv'e had the chest and arms assembled for a few months.

Image[/img]

Image[/img]

Then onto the neck, same deal chalked where the cowl would sit so i knew where to aim for. For me the neck was the most fun to glue lol

So by the end of Thursday night this is where i was at.....

Now Friday was pretty easy, worked on the gauntlets the strap for the cod, cleaned up the chalk residue from the undersuit and where i had to re-glue i needed to cover it up a bit. With some helpful pointers from Kris (Ludakris) i sprayed a light mist of plasti dip over the exposed glue area's. Worked brilliant! Last part was attaching the cape, at which point the suit is done!

Did a quick suit up as well

Only thing i might do to add to the suit is fit the spine pieces when i get the time

Sorry for the crappy phone pics, but il get some good shots up soon

On the last note i wanna say a few thanks, to Kris at HellsKitchen, Brad (Spidey4Fun), Dejan (Powergyser), Kev (Inkmonkey) and Steve (Monkeybat). All of whom made this suit possible for me. Thank you all heaps!

Enjoy!

Cheers
Ben

Great Build. Your TDK looks awesome. I love the cowl, perfect color and very sharp details. But next Suit up put on your Boots ^^. I hope my Begins turns out that good.
