Oh man Tom, I might have to get this one, I love your sculpts but they're always too big :p

Re: Steampunk Batman Cowl---WIP

Thanks guys!

Larry, that's kind of what I'm going to go for, more or less. Unfortunately, Chavant medium is too hard to be able to transfer textures directly from any cloth (or much of anything, for that matter). So I'll have to find the right combination of tools to simulate a texture along those lines. It's just something I'll have to play with until I get it right. emoticon

Just an idea to throw out there, put a piece of canvas in the microwave fot 1 1/2 to 2 minutes and then press against the clay. It would retain enough heat but not sure if it would work or not. If you try it please use scrap clay, I'd hate to be blame for destroying your beautiful sculpt..LOL...

Re: Steampunk Batman Cowl---FINISHED SCULPT

Finally finished the sculpt! John asked that the face and nose be given a smooth texture, to contrast with the cloth texture of the rest of it---turned out pretty well:

Here's the chest bat that goes with it---did the same texture on it as the cowl:

I wound up having to use a couple of different tools to make the texture---just no way to transfer it well from any source material.

I'm planning to mold it some time in the next week or so, so I should have a first pull in a couple of weeks at the most.
