Re: The BatBerry: My 89 Batmobile controlled by my BlackBerry
I usually get quite a few questions around where exactly I build the BatBerry. A lot of people think I have a dedicated shop where I work on the car.
Most people are pretty surprised when they hear that I work on it right out of my standard attached two car garage.
To dispel the myths and rumors I figured I would post a little inside tour of the BatCave

Gotta have some fun by cutting a hole in the trunk!
Don't worry it was a planned necessary evil that had to be done. I made some good progress on the trunk latching mechanism today

Re: The BatBerry: My 89 Batmobile controlled by my BlackBerry
I made my first attempt at the trunk latch mechanism. The result of the first attempt... not so good :(
But the experience gave me more ideas of how to solve the problem :)

WooHoo!!! After taking some time to think about the problem I finally had success with the Trunk Latch.
Take that trunk! I posted some video in the blog post as well :)

Re: The BatBerry: My 89 Batmobile controlled by my BlackBerry
I'm making some more progress on the Electronics Rack. I ran out of a few nuts/bolts so I wasn't able to finish the project, but it's coming along
Of course I need a place to mount all of my nerdy goodies

Re: The BatBerry: My 89 Batmobile controlled by my BlackBerry
I built up some jack-points so that I can actually raise the car and work on it.
One of the tricky parts about this car is that the body overlaps the frame in ways that makes it really tough to get a floor jack under the car. So I decided I would make some accessible jack points to raise it up.

Re: The BatBerry: My 89 Batmobile controlled by my BlackBerry
the photo in the garage is awesome. my dad raced vintage cars my entire life, so our garage always had some sort of project going on--just not a Batmobile. haha it looks like you don't have clearance to close the door. is that just the angle of the picture or what?

Re: The BatBerry: My 89 Batmobile controlled by my BlackBerry
Yesterday was a bit of trial and error, but I think I have a plan going forward. The tricky part is finding a good way to support the weight of the big/heavy/clunky exhaust tips.
My theory is that the rear of the exhaust tips will be supported by the hangers of the actual exhaust, but the heavy end-weighted tips need a good solid mounting point.

That's just an optical illusion.. but the reason the hood is hoisted to the ceiling is that I don't have enough room to close the door with the hood on the car... yet :)

Re: The BatBerry: My 89 Batmobile controlled by my BlackBerry
I finally finished, and securely mounted, the exhaust tips. I couldn't be happier with the results!
It did come with a few challenges today, but with a bit of perseverance everything turned out just right :)
