Making of my TRIBLADE Bat-boomerang
Some photos of the steps I had to take to finish the Batarang, to make the mold I used cardboard and fixed it on a surface using tape, and then sealed the seams with glue, and then fixed the Batarang to the surface with glue and then made a simple silicone mold. This is an older project, I posted it to motivate people to do their own Batarangs
First step was to make a drawing and then cut out the wood and form the prototype
After that I made another drawing and a second prototype Batarang
Then I painted the wood and prepared the mold.
The mold came out nice and I started the casting, here is a photo of an Aluminum cold-cast version, hand polished

Re: Making of my TRIBLADE Bat-boomerang
Thanks Tony! I wanted to have my own flying Batarang, so the wooden one returns, but the ones made of resin are to heavy to return, they only go half circle!

Looks great! I'm especially impressed that you finished it in aluminum.

Re: Making of my TRIBLADE Bat-boomerang
Thanks Doh2, its a cold cast, its urethane resin filled with lots of very fine aluminum powder, therefor it looks like aluminum but in fact its also urethane resin in there! This technique is also used by museums to cold cast objects of metal, like bronze or gold objects. The Batarang cast then had to be polished by hand with different kind of very fine sandpapers and in the end polished with a polishing paste.

Hey Red,
That's a very cool batarang. Sorry I hadn't responded before (I actually thought I had, must be losing my marbles, LOL).
